This has probably been done, but why isn't the back button on my browser working on this site?
It doesn't take me back to the overview page
Dunno about your back button, why would it go to the overview page? Of late on here my mouse back button works intermittently (to previous viewed page) or copy txt with the mouse (holding left click and highlight, though can do it via the keyboard), just this site none other. Does seem weird stuff is happening on here
Click on thread now stuck on thread.
That's a cruel trick!
Same problem here. I have to click on the forum button up top to go back.
Fine here. User error? (-:
The 'back' button should take you to the previously viewed page, regardless of site.
Random thought, what browser are you using?
It's working ok for me on chrome.
chrome (auto updating)
Same for me. Chrome on Android. Taking 3 presses to go back one page. Only been happening the last few days.
Same here last few days. I'm using Chrome.
wow, just check my version, it auto updated, now everythings changed font... bizarre
I think the page is doing an auto-refresh or soemthing as the browser back history shows several copies of the same page in both the forum main page and each post. Something to do with the ad platform?
Same problem here. I have to click on the forum button up top to go back.
same here. Opera
That was my first thought.Something to do with the ad platform?

Working fine for me now.
I noticed this yesterday after updating Chrome (on a Windows desktop pc). Very annoying!
Clicking the browser's back button does not take me to the previous page (be that the overview or a previous page in multiple page thread).
Working for me on Safari here
Back arrow just re-loads the current page. Chrome on a Windows 7 PC.
Not working properly for me either, have to hit back about half dozen times before it goes back.
Theres a recent known problem with "free loader plugin" on some sites using IE and chrome. Firefox not affected.
Just done some science. Seems to be ad related. Cougar/Drac does it do it for you if you turn ads back on?
The "freeloader plugin" problem occurs depending on what ads you've been served: so it wont happen all the time or for all users.
And the freeloader term above isnt me: its automatically replaced / edited in my post.
And i thought is was just me (chrome)

You appear to be correct. Just fired up IE and replicated the issue. Hm.
I've flagged it with Them to have a look at.
We made a change.
Can anyone let us know if it's still happening?
Yep, still happening.
It wants to go back to delivery.platform.switchads.com/adserver/update_sat.html?v=1.4-QUNIT; if you wait a few seconds, it reverts to the correct page.
still happening
chrome on windows 8
Still happening here using chrome
I find it works fine but depends on how fast it loads the page.
I don't know as it's loading time, so much as whether or not you wait a few seconds after it's finished before hitting the button. Seems to be, anyway.
Something like that but it was working great in the pub with a poor connection but at home with a fast connection there's a delay before I can use it.
Well I think you know the answer to that then Drac, back to the pub with you 😉
Still not working right for me on iPad
Same here on standard android browser
Same on IOS too
Same problem here using Chrome.
Any chance we could have a 'forum' link at the bottom of each thread? It'd save using the back button and make fore better navigation.

Always been annoying that. Don't understand why there can't be one directly after the last post.
I keep on scrolling to the bottom where it says 'Website and Forums' and hit 'Forum Overview'
Back button working ok here on Dolphin, but as I say, I hit Forum overview at the bottom, as the back button doesn't refresh the threads Shirley?...
8 back button clicks to get out of the tipster thread just then, but often just 3, and sometimes 2. Seems to be time in thread related.
Same problem for me on chrome on phone and safari on laptop
Unusable on my android phone- seems to auto update every 30 seconds (the url box re-appears) and then it bounces me from wherever I was to the top of the page.
Any progress on this issue ?
You can just click the links at the top of the page in the meantime?
I'll see if I can get an update.
seems better to me now (it wasn't working earlier)
I encountered the problem on my android when I updated google, although I think it's related to the ads rather than the update because when I used one of those programs (that shall not be named) to load the site without ads the problem disappeared.
Seems to be fixed today 🙂
Any chance we could have a 'forum' link at the bottom of each thread?
"Forum Overview" at the bottom V
"Forum Overview" at the bottom V
takes you to page one though. But anyway - the problem seems to be fixed.
Seems to be a similar issue rearing its head - My Firefox on Windows 7 keeps getting stuck with the back button not working - which is mostly an issue if I follow a link from a page and then can't get back.
On two different machines and very repeatable on my work machine.
Microsoft sites often 'trap' you into their sites, and it seems similar to that.
I had this yesterday on firefox, but only while not logged in- so I assume it's ad related?
so I assume it's ad related?
maybe add related but predominantly poor coding/lack of testing...
Happening to me on firefox now 🙁
yep -same problem here -
I'm using firefox and tonight the back button wasn't working. It quickly became apparent that the problem fixed itself when i logged onto the forum.
I'm also having weird issues today where by the long advert on the left of my screen keeps extending about an inch or so over the text body of the forum posts etc making them unreadable without another refresh.
I like this forum but i do find the adverts a bit OTT and annoying, especially the big self expanding one at the top...
Firefox and back button not working here - can right click and select 2 pages back to get 'proper back'. I'm getting closer to paying for P membership or just not visiting....
As above on Firefox, what is going on???????
EDIT, 20+ left clicks and still here. 😯
Back button takes between 3 and 6 goes to work when using IE on Windows Phone 7.
Same problem here on Firefox for a couple of days.
Right clicking the back arrow to find the forum page is a right pain
Anyone found a solution to this yet, it's driving me mad!
Does it still do it if you wait a few seconds after the page has fully loaded before clicking? That's the behaviour I observed last time around.
Hitting 'Home' on the keyboard and clicking the [Chat Forum] etc links at the top of the page dodges the issue completely, of course.
Cougar - yes it does on mozilla anyway. Plus occasionally the left hand ad stretches across the page. I'm resorting to either stopping the page fully loading and right clicking on the back button, usually to select a page 2 pages back but which takes way more 'back' clicks back to go back.
I've had this for the last week. Latest Firefox on W7 if it helps.
Back button working on Chrome on Android BUT I can see from the progress bar some pages loading more than once.
Even doing it sometimes on the forum (not thread) pages sometimes.
Was having problems with Firefox, double clicking the back button seemed to work, but now I am getting the advert strip on the left side of the websites blocking this centre section?
Hitting 'Home' on the keyboard and clicking the [Chat Forum] etc links at the top of the page dodges the issue completely, of course.
except if you have come from a page other than the first page, of course.
Firefox 33.0, same problem. Right-click the back button and select the page you want to go to, or ABP plug-in for Firefox
Still a problem here with Firefox.
Need to right click back button to find the last page.
Left side banner covers half of the page so you need to press F5 to refresh to get it to go away.
That is more of a pain as the previous page then refreshes so the threads are constantly jumping around.Hitting 'Home' on the keyboard and clicking the [Chat Forum] etc links at the top of the page dodges the issue completely, of course.
It is a bit shit/lazy really
Same here using firefox on windows laptop. Back button refreshes current page, right mouse click on the back button shows 4 pages for the thread so *2 what it should be.
Right click anywhere on the page brings up the menu though and the back button works in the menu.
Ahhhh it starting to drive me crazy again (chrome latest update)
Doing it again for me. Chrome on Android. Was fixed from the first time a few weeks ago but broken again now.

That's not standard is it? Are you running STW Extender Tools?
At the very bottom, under "Website and Forums."
Ah, so it is - never look down there. STWET does give you it straight after the last post where kayak wants though.
BTW for anybody interested I've been running a new version of STW Extender Tools with added functionality for a while, but the original author hasn't published my changes, so I'll probably publish it myself shortly. Just wondering now whether I can make the links that provides below the last post go back to the page you came from as TurnerGuy wants...
Sorry, I thought you were joking. Extender Tools?
happening for me again. Opera
I haven't read this whole thread, but it is happening to me today on both Chrome and IE.
Now happening to me in Safari
Happening for me too.
Firefox on a windows 7 machine
Funny how it has started happening at different times for people.
Might be worthwhile clearing out histories/caches/etc to see what happens.
Not again.Dam annoying 👿
