They kill birds / wildlife needlessly and fill your neighbours garden with poo.

downsides to cats, i am looking at a fluffy ball looking very appealing, but a couple of days ago she let a bat loose in the spare bedroom, and two mice the week before.

She has in the past given me an bunny, not really what you want to find at the end of the bed on easter sunday. Countless voles & mice, a few rabbits, slow worms, lizards, toads, frogs, newts, worms, moths, a pigeon and a stoat.

Remember you never own a cat, you are merely their servant.

I hate them - the cats and the neighbours who own them and let them out all day and night to trespass and crap in my garden and kill the birds

Have you thought of putting a sign up ?

cats can't read ... I doubt some of the neighbours can either. You need a sign to say keep out of your own property ??

So those bells you get for their collars are a waste of time (in terms of saving mammals/birds. Doubt a bell would be much warning for frog/worm/moth)?

The downsides to having a cat are: they sh1t all over your neighbours garden, they kill or maim birds in your neighbours garden and leave them there, they leave dirty paw prints on your neighbours car windscreen, they claw the top rails of your neighbours fence, they claw the bark off the ornamental trees in your neighbours garden, they scare all the wildlife away from your neighbours garden etc, etc, etc so no downsides for you if you don't get on with your neighbours but plenty to p1ss off your neighbours and cost them a lot of time and money, i dislike cats but dislike their owners more as no owner has ever cleaned up the mess or compensated for the damage these vile creatures cause

We have a constant stream of live/dead animals brought through the cat flap. We had a 2 day cat/mouse standoff when one escaped and climbed into the Christmas Tree, it managed to eat most of the chocolates before it finally gave up and came down. This week I have had two headless rabbits. That said the two cats are great and we do love having them about.

I love cats, have had them in the past, but I wouldn't get one now, as they do roam about in other peoples gardens which does people off.

Neighbours but one have a really nice looking cat, it now despite our best efforts to discourage it, sits under the bird table in our garden all f'in day scaring the birds away and killing a few (it had a robin last week).

Another cat from across the road persists in shitting in the veg patch, the neighbours won't do anything about it so I will probably eventually make the cat disappear.

So out of not wishing to be a hypocrite I've decided not to get one.

Cats are ace! The thinking persons pet.

For the life of me I don't 'get' dogs. Love 'em to bits (as I do most animals - notable exceptions being wasps and humans), but what a shite pet!

We occasionally dog sit as our place for a friend, and the novelty of having a dog in the house very quickly wears off when every time one of us moves/flinches/blinks/farts the dog gets up panting expectantly thinking it somehow involves them! Jesus wept, leave us alone! Amuse yourself like a cat does you brainless addled animal!

I wonder if all dogs are like this, and whether the owners like their partners the same, always following them around with that 'I love you' look like a, well, like a lost dog! Drives me mad.

Cat lovers - if your cat was big enough, it would eat you.

I think about that all the time..............makes keeping a cat even more ace.

Specially with Dennis, 'cause he looks just like a very small tiger 8)

I like cats, but they're hobby killers of wildlife. Belled, just fed, whatever - makes no difference. It's irresponsible to own one and let it out of your house off a leash.

None of my three cats ever hunt. One did a bit when he was younger, but only very rarely. And all my previous cats grew out of hunting when they got older - after about a couple of years.

EDIT : Dennis will however without hesitation attack foxes - the little git.

in case people become filled with sanctimonious rage when discussing the correct training technique for you and your cat... 🙄
