On Internet Explorer for this, Google Chrome open in another window but can't get STW, why & is there something I can 'adjust'?
Thanks.
Try disabling the add ons in Chrome and see if that helps.
Most likely the ads and flash causing an issue.
What do you mean by "can't get"?
You've broken Chrome? No problems here.
Works on Chrome here--must be some setting
Ad blocker installed maybe? As mentioned before..plugin.Think ive had it before.
Everything else is ok, by 'not working' I mean the little blue wheel is just going round & round & round & round & roun..........
maybe you should change the blue wheel to either a 650b or 29 😉
maybe you should change the blue wheel to either a 650b or 29
But will it make my laptop come alive? 😉
Clear cookies etc
had the same thing earlier today - worked in IE but not Chrome. Just cleared history and cookies and all was ok again. Wasn't just STW though, lots of sites took ages to load until it all got cleared
I can't even get Google now! Does this all the time, if I close it, it takes ages to start again. Don't know why it's doing all this, I haven't altered any settings as far as I know.
I hate computers me.
Uninstall and reinstall?
I can't even get Google now!
yep, that's exactly what I had. Clear cookies and all history and all was ok again. I think I also deleted something else but start with history and cookies
Ok, so I've uninstalled Chrome. Now it wont install again, been on 'download' for 30 mins. Apart from chucking this pile of shite through a window or smashing the shit out of it with a mash hammer, what do I do?
I really have no patience with computers & may have to go on an Anger Management course at work before long.
The shitty thing's on Windows ****ting 8 if that's any help.
did you try clearing cookies before uninstalling chrome?
reinstalling is a bit like fitting a new bathroom suite rather than emptying the bathwater first.
did you try clearing cookies before uninstalling chrome?
No, didn't know I should have!
Now what? (come & fix It & I'll buy you some beeer)
leffeboy and I both mentioned it 23hrs ago 😉
To download a new copy, I assume you're using Internet Explorere and going here:
http://www.google.co.uk/homepage/windows8/
I misunderstood that I should've deleted the cookies if I was uninstalling, thought that when I uninstalled then everything would vanish!
Told you I was crap with computery stuff. 😐
Followed that link Stoner, still no go.
so you are stw'ing on IE?
when you go to that link, does IE download the chrome installer package?
EDIT: just thinking of the basics, have you rebooted the computer since uninstalling Chrome?
If you launch task manager, can you see any incidences of chrome running in "processes" tab?
Sorry Stoner & thanks for your help but you may as well be talking Swahili.
I think I'll chuck it in the fishpond at the back of our house. Either that or just keep using IE, or a different one.
It must be frustrating foe people who understand technology trying to explain to someone who doesn't. Bit like when I tried to show my old Dad how to use a cordless phone I suppose.
'Dad, It's simple!'
there's a great feature in chrome where you can share your computer with someone who can join you, and take you through things on the screen. It's a pity chrome isnt working for you at the moment 😉
If it were me I would try using system restore to go back to where I was before I uninstalled it. If you want to try (and you are on Windows 8/8.1) then you:
Press WindowsKey-W
Type 'create a restore point'
this should find 'create a restore point'. Then click on those words (the ones just below where you typed - not the actual words that you typed).
That will bring up the system properties window and you should be on the system protection tab. Then click on the 'system restore' button
That brings up the System Restore window. Click on 'Next'
Now you've hopefully got a list with the most recent restore point on it, hopefully with a date/time before you uninstalled chrome but not very long ago. If that's true then just click on that and then 'Next'
If you then click on Finish your system will be restored back to that date but without losing and files or data so you should get Chrome back. If it doesn't work then repeat the process and you will get the option to undo the restore.
Or just sling it out the window and do something more fun...
Cheers Leffeboy, I'll try that tomorrow. Mofta bed now.
