sound just like Alan Partridge or David Brent when I read it?
I imagine an STWer, convinced of their own importance and success in their Little World, questioning their percieved lower stwer minions, (who secretly regard them as morons) for their informed knowledge. But don't want to lose face through lack of knowledge of a subject. It's an odd phrase to me. What's wrong with "Can I ask you about? (y'know, cos I don't know!).
Or is it ironic or sommat I don't get?
It is a little bit ironic yes.
Now talk to me about annoying thread titles. Go!
To get more responses this thread should have been called "Talk to me about "Talk to me about""

You need to get over the fact that you work at an Asda checkout mate.

I'd rather be Alan Partridge than David Brent, cos at least Partridge is intelligent, whereas Brent just thinks he is.
In reality, it just means the poster is looking for a general discusson on a subject and not asking specific questions...
Well having been guilty of doing this recently when asking for views on Birmingham I guess it's because i didn't have a closed set of questions but was interested in inviting any bits of information that people thought might be helpful. I guess I could have phrased it 'Tell me about..'
hmmm hang a minute
[searches for thread...]
Ha! no! I did write 'Tell me' not 'Talk to me' I'm innocent! I'm not David Brent after all. Am i? 😳
Yes you are.
oh bollox, sniff 🙁

It's very ironic, I'd say.
You do realise that you've just described yourself, don't you?
You are clearly David Brent and I claim my £5.
Or a troll, take yer pick.
Terry Tibbs is your man for the catchphrase.
You got a fridge? I wanna fridge. Talk to me about yer fridge.
"Talk to me about." Discuss.
Because they are ignorant bleeders and the same people who say "can I get" in shops, the word please is never mentioned in the phrase.
Or is it ironic or sommat I don't get?
You don't have to get it as there's nothing to get...Post up if you know something about it or don't if not...But don't ever EVER start a thread asking because that's just plain sad..... 🙄
