It was then reported as the norm
It wasn’t.
I think there’s also a big problem with there being very little ‘news ‘ made so any morsels a feeding frenzy for them.
Went past a few of our locals in Highgate. Lots of space, not really busy at all. We stayed for a number of pints.
Got a little bit busier later on, but generally speaking super civilised and safe. It was fun having a sense of normality back, and table service at a pub is kind of novel. No danger here and a far cry from Soho!
When people who work in “the media” can see crowded streets and pubs from their office windows, should they not report that, because it doesn’t reflect your local experience? I think the coverage has generally been very fair, lots of journalists have been reporting from semi-rural pubs handling social distancing admirably … but many pubs were stuck between policy and reality … they have businesses that only make money if they allow busy crowded periods … some chose to not open this weekend because of that, others did open … either way many are likely to be losing money.
Went to the local yesterday with the family, it's set out very well and looked great as been decorated in lockdown. Only spoilt by one annoying woman and her daughter who thought they just plonk themselves right down next to my wife rather than keeping distance. I think she may have took the hint with my loud bemoaning of it, others who we know just shook their heads in disbelief, there's always one lot I guess. I suspect it was an effort to 'encourage' us to move out of the seating area they wanted.
So the predictable headlines with London, Hampshire and Essex seeming to be the hot beds of debauchery. It Was always going to happen though.
That’s just the usual London S/E media bias, plenty of action elsewhere.
