Anyone thinking of getting one since the success of Wiggins and Cavendish?

Judging by recent threads on here, you're in a minority if you're not a roadie 😉

Bought on last year. Sold it shortly after to fund another hardtail. They're shite! And riding on the road is spirit-crushingly boring!

One of my local bike shops was decidedly sparse after the Tour, rekon they just re stocked in time!

Bought one recently.

I'd like to say the TdF etc didnt influence the decision....but in reality it probably did.

Its hard work.
Even a compact 34/50 chainset doesnt get close to the easiest gears on a typical MTB....i managed to cramp both thighs climbing a hill the other day having been out for only 10 miles or so....never experienced anything like this on a MTB.

Its been bought for fitness reasons, ridiculously muddy trails earlier this 'summer' meant i wasnt getting out as often as i would have liked....a road bike seemed the best way of covering some miles and not having to hose down myself and the bike after every ride.

It lacks the adrenalin of MTB riding and i dont intend to compete on a road bike whereas i've done Gravity Enduros and Mini-DH on the MTB....but there is a satisfaction in simply clicking off the miles.

Yep, If I can get my grubby mits on one. A lot of 2012 models in my size are sold out and 2013 aren't available yet. Apparently this happens every year - not great business sense.

Wait 6 months or so. There'll be loads available second hand, barely used.

I've recently dug out my old bike that I used to race on in the mid 80's.
It's a smasher.

I'm enjoying riding my old roadie at the moment.

Not TdF / Olympics influenced - more to do with weather and light evening commuting.

Was very tempted to buy a new De Rosa, but my old steel bike is a litle bit special 8)

ETA - I have to say, that riding the road bike has really boosted my fitness 😀

Bought on last year. Sold it shortly after to fund another hardtail. They're shite! And riding on the road is spirit-crushingly boring if you're fat, slow and unfit.
