You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Been intrigued about buying into the Whoop band but it is costly (£25 per. month).
Anyone been using one/ had experience in using one?
I like the idea of the sleep tracker/ strain coach advising on lifestyle choices and when to train/ not to train or train at a lower level/ higher level.
I'm not looking for another watch, or activity tracker per. se as they I don't want to know how many steps I've done etc.
I bought one 2 days ago and am waiting for delivery.
Thought I’d have a play with one as I’m saving loads more in fuel by staying at home.
Cocked up a bit as I expected it to pair with my garmin 520 but it seems it won’t.
Will post findings after a week or so wearing it, assuming it turns up.
Be interested to see what you think? How long did you sign up for?
Only went with the rolling month at a time.
I have one, got mine on the 6 month plan. It is good for sleep monitoring which is mainly why I signed up in the first place. I like the weekly and monthly performance reports they have a lot of good information in them. You need to wear it for a month before you get the full benefit and it has to be worn all the time for it to measure your recovery (the recovery score is based on the HRV recorded in the last sleep cycle). Also, wear it tighter than you would expect to to get a good reading.
Have had both the 2.0 and the 3.0 for about 9/10 months and recently cancelled my sub.
IMO, the strain coach is a waste of time for anyone doing any kind of endurance sport for long hours and is more aimed at people using the gym for an hour a day.
The sleep tracking is great on paper and works well for a lot of people, but I found that it really struggled to tell the difference between being "awake" and "light sleep" and as a result I'd end up with 3-4hrs awake every night.
HRV measurement is good, but they measure it in the last deep sleep cycle as mentioned above, which has enabled them to patent it. Not convinced that this provides the most consistent measurement as they claim and I would get wildly fluctuating recovery scores for no obvious reason.
Using the HRV4Training app now and it seems a lot more consistent.
I really wanted it to work, but it actually ended up causing more stress. Been sleeping like a baby since ditching it.
I really liked the HR trace during the night though - very interesting to see the effect of alcohol and different food types.
As mentioned above the strain coach has its limitations, if you do endurance sport you will get high strain scores 20+ is easily achievable on a normal ride but lifting weights will not necessarily give you a corresponding strain score as it works on cardiovascular load.
The post sleep questionnaire can be a bit probing until you have set it up how you like it but is good for tracking things which can make a difference.
Will I renew my subscription when it comes up, I'm not sure.
Got my wife a xiomi band 4 which does all that stuff with an app for free (well I imagine its a lot more basic)
But for 25 quid posted & no no subs, its been great
if u want to use it as a gps tracker has to do it thru your phone
Can you sign up for the monthly rolling sub & cancel after say 2 months? I would imagine that you cant cancel if you sign up for the year or 18 month options.

6 months minimum then you go onto the month by month sub.
Never heard of it before opening this thread.
Having looked on the site though. Is it really offering anymore than what a Polar Vantage M/V or Ignite or even the new Grit X (I’m sure Garmin etc have similar but no experience) already offer?
They will all track sleep and 24/7 HR. Tell you the quality of said sleep and how well you’ve ‘recharged’. They will also show you your cardio load and muscle loads from training and give guidance on activity for the day such as Strength, Cardio or Supportive and give 4 options in each category for you or do your own thing based on past load and sleep/recovery.
If you did strength or cardio it will then recommend some ‘Supportive’ work such as mobility.
Maybe Whoop are giving some personal recommendations after someone has specifically looked at your data rather than some algorithms like Polar.
Ithlete App does the same with a Bluetooth HR band. Maybe worth a try first
Mine turned up this afternoon and have it on right now.
Initial thoughts are that it is much more comfortable than any other watch or band although clearly it's early days and as it has to be quite tight it may annoy me quickly.
It has already thought I'd gone to sleep sat at my desk working, maybe as I didn't move too much and heart rate was <60 for 15 minutes.
Will give it a few days to come up with some stats and see if they correlate to reality and what I'm feeling etc.
Ultimately for me it is a bit of a gimmick as whilst I'm interested in the stats, I'm far from an athlete and have no desire to become one.
