A friend of mine has put in an offer for a 4 acre piece of land, 7 miles off the coast of Belize. She plans to build a few huts on stilts and run a bar there, basically as a stop of for people enjoying the barrier reef in the area.

She's after people to help shift sand, build stuff and get things up and running there. She supplies the food that goes with any caught fish. And she better supply some drinks too. We stay on the Island and generally help out/party.

Ever wanted to do a working holiday and can afford a flight there and back.

Yes it does sound like free labour, but it should be a reet larf in a crazy location.

Bring your pirate hats too.

Who's in? Ongoing from June.

I have many questions, but the first one is do you have to catch your own fish?!?:

I am so tempted by this, sounds like it could be great fun.

I'm pretty useless at anything building related but can shift sand!

Someone will catch fish if you're more use doing something else.
Keva, its Cockney caye, just off the small town of Hopkins.

Just so I got this straight: She wants people to pay their own way out so that they can toil in the heat setting up her business for her in exchange for some garnish to accompany fish which will also need to be caught.

Sounds like she needs this fella:

When you say "stay on the island", is that almost literally on the island? Sounds tempting?

Muppetwrangler. You got it.

Yes you stay on the Island, with the sand flies and what appears to be various of her rather attractive friends.

Someone's got to just run the boat back and forth.

Frank. That's the one, pretty basic huh?

Creg.

As long as you want. But you can't just sit on your butt laping up the sun, sea and sand. 😉

Molgrips. Do you have daughters in their mid to late twenties? 😉

I spent 2 months on Caye Caulker in Belize building a scientific reserve in 2001, one of the best times of my life - all been downhill since then!

Would be on this like a shot if didn't have job, family etc... Sandflies are a pain though!

Yes, but only if you count in months rather than years.

Yunki, no, i was up to my nuts in it..

Molgrips. Far to young and i'm not sure they'd even sell on the open market down there in Belize.

Would be hard not to spend all day lazing around with the sun, sea and sand but I don't mind some hard work in exchange for great scenery 😉 got used to it working in the ski resorts for years
