So there I was casually cruising some facebook good times and up popped an ad for some booze free booze. And there he was, staring back at me. Jordan from Sick Bike Co.

https://mashgang.com/

Sick Beer Co.
They were good times, back in the day with the internet drama.
That's all really.

Mine's a pint of gnarpale please. I realise I will have to wait a year or two, get abused by the brewery and that it may never turn up.

Five years they have been perfecting their beer apparently. How long ago did they give up on the vegan cheese?

I always find it hard to keep Sick Bikes and Rich Energy separate in my recollections.

I wonder if the beer is actually any good? With their reputations I would not be trusting the all 4 and 5 star reviews.

Its somewhat variable but the basic stuff is pretty good. Some of the more weird and wonderful stuff less so but then thats the same with a normal craft brewery as well. Some stuff works for some people but not all.

His association with it is somewhat offputting though and might need to go elsewhere in future.

No idea he was behind Mash Gang. Never had one but aren't their beers pretty well rated? Sure I've seen recommendations. Not that that excuses being a nob jockey, but suggests they're actually making a product, and a decent one at that, and getting it to customers.

According to Companies House, he resigned as a director at the end of August 🧐

I was thinking about this/him the other day as my "SEND IT" mug which has been a firm favourite for a few years now has succumbed to the dishwasher and now says "END IT" which did amuse me.

Yeah, I'd had plenty of them, some were very good. And they've helped a lot of other breweries to get off the ground with their own AF beers as well. I stopped drinking their beers as soon as I found out (on this forum), but I'm still conflicted about them.

And wasn't a director for the first three years. 🧐

Think about teh interweb, and how many people can't write proper on it. Then read the reviews and remark on how convenient it must be that the 52 first reviewers of your product are all erudite and write dead good prose.

Standard practice among people who run companies, from what I've observed.

A local MD closed one of his restaurants last year by texting his staff that morning that they wouldn't be needed, company going into administration. One of my daughters friends lost a months pay, as did the rest of the staff. The owner still runs other companies, still drives a big car, still has his expensive country house...

And, I'm going to be a little more circumspect here. A well known bike brand that closed suddenly, similarly dumping all the staff with no pay. They'd been pestering us, to the point of harassment, about buying stock from them. We didn't buy the stock because they were selling directly online at a price which undercut their dealers' trade price ie they were happy to allow their dealers to bankrupt themselves. The owner of that company is now selling the same brand of bikes without a mention of the staff who struggled to pay their bills a few weeks before Xmas. We refused to deal with this guy after that.

Looks like it has been sold at the time he stopped being a director. Odd that their only assets are £400 of computer equipment- maybe its a laptop that they use to write reviews. They must be having stuff made for them or renting brewing capacity.

In the UK think they use Fierce in Aberdeen.

Just another jobbing chancer who walks between the raindrops, seemingly immune from any justice and maintaining a pretty good standard of living...

Something will snap sooner or later, though. If the public persona and lifestyle is all on tick, he'll be up to his eyeballs in debt and the inevitable will happen. Or he'll rip off the wrong person and get a proper kicking. Or both.

Sorry if I was going over old news, I don't actually come on here any more as it became impossible to load on mobile and writing posts is very difficult with the warning about attaching files coming up over the top of your text.
Which it is still doing, but less annoying on desktop 😀
I just couldn't think of anyone else that would care....

A good SICK! story - near the end they had a tee shirt where you could write your own text in a box with a SICK logo underneath. I bought one that said 'Number 1 Marino Reseller', all in good faith like. But they can't take what they dish out. It got refunded and the other guy messaged me from disney land saying I ruined his holiday. So that was fun.

I've bought some Mash Gang beer and thought it was the best AF beer that I've ever had. Very expensive tho. They've been doing a lot of sales recently as well. The core IPAs are good. The stout they did at Christmas was cack.

It never fails to amuse me how thin skinned these "confidence is all, I am the brand" tosspot are in reality.

Almost like they know they might be found out at any minute.

My Sick Story - I was half interested in the Sleipnir, long travel high pivot Enduro gearbox bike they were trying to crowdfund. They were being dicks on SM, so told them I was no longer interested in it due to their bellendry, They gave me a load of shit (themselves and followers) for never being a real customer, only wanted to take the piss, no time for tire kickers etc etc. Anyway it all went to the wall and who remembers the Intend forks Jordan used to covet as his pride and joy? They now adorn my hardtail (after i fixed his hamfistery), thanks to STW and a charity auction. Makes me smile every time I look at them, next to the long travel high pivot gearbox bike I bought instead a few weeks after the above.

Ha that's great.

It's a shame, looked like good beer. The best AF beer I have found is tempest. Really nice, and they actually ride bikes. And aren't bellends!

Wasnt Kenny Tutt of Masterchef fame was it? He did a similar thing in Worthing. Weapons grade bellendery!

My "Send It" T-shirt I bought from them is well worn. Got a blue Sick bicycles top cap on my bright green hardtail. Not a fan boy, just bought those items for novelty value. Won't be going out of my way to try their beer, loads of local small breweries round here and I don't drink much anyway.

Fingers crossed. I've got a flight ahead of me and the drama would be entertaining.
