Second time in a week that today's forum posts are tomorrows "news" stories.
First it was a certain rapper cooking someone's dinner, now it's the purple house for sale.
I bet if someone clever enough could set up a fake story with impressive photo "shopped" evidence (Jamie?) It would appear the next day with someone claiming it as their own.
Shhh... don't tell anyone of your cunning plan.
The purple house was on my Facebook last week I think
the purple house in Newlands ?
bet it's pricy
I was hoping for a Sun exclusive exposing the STW Porn ring (or Binners and Hora go riding in the woods together) 😉

Once upon a time the folk on uk.rec.motorcycles did this after noticing stuff from the group was appearing in MCN. Sure enough the bogus story appeared the following week 🙂
Interestingly, there's a followup to the purple house on facebook, and the link looks like this:
facebook sharing buying campaign? viral thingummy with stats to follow who goes where after they click on the link? clever buggers. BUY HOUSES! USE OUR SITE TO LOOK AT, THEN BUY, HOUSES!!! EVERYONE ELSE IS! QUICK! BUY ONE, BEFORE THEY'RE ALL TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
Ummm... Or someone clicked the share link on Rightmove...
I am Spartacus, oh hold on...!
I presume they just register on all kinds of forums as a cheap way to sniff out 'stories', I know somebody who got stung pretty badly this way after posting some stuff on a forum without really thinking
umm, yeah, or that lemonysam!
I'm off to "do choppersquad's phone"
Mrs Metruscan says there is chat on mumsnet asking how "their" thread on the purple house has hit the news..
Reporters used to be camped at the High Court, now they're hanging around on Mumsnet - it's written into their contracts. All that 'Penis Beaker' malarkey has just emphasised what a top-rate news source it is.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Mail had a reporter whose job it is specifically to trawl forums and twitter for rubbish to write up.
