Hello, just had a change of circumstances and have bought 2nd hand cars within a week - a Passat and a Megane. Went with Direct Line for the insurance, but they were a) expensive and b) surprising painful to deal with, so I'm thinking of sacking them off and trying again. Any wisdom from within the STW hivemind of who's good for multi-car insurance?
Thanks.
I'm currently with Admiral. On my second year for multi car, as they didn't put the premium up. 70 quid per month for a Peugeot Partner and a Toyota Aygo. Partner with 9 years no claims, aygo with one.
Direct Line here. They were easy enough to beat down at renewal to a price I was happy to pay 🙂
Direct line best for us as well.
Admiral, two cars and house. Just added a new bike to house ins and seen a drop in price. Happy as Larry.
LV for my 2 cars. Easy to deal with and the price for the 2 was only slightly more than I was paying for the bigger car. The European breakdown cover is cheap as well.
Are multicar policies actually viable now then?
Last time I tried (about 3 years ago) Admiral wanted more for the Clio than I was paying for the BMW and more for the BMW than I was paying for both!
Got a good saving going multi-car on Admiral and then another combining with the house.
Not the cheapest to start with though.
Aviva have been decent enough for us.
Never ever had a quote that was cheaper than individual policies. I've tried them all, but it has always been dearer.
Another vote for LV - Mini JCW and VW Up for £400 pa
Two brilliant accident free drivers though!!
Another vote for Aviva from me. Added a third vehicle this week, an extra £60 per annum for a 2013 Berlingo van.
I thought that was reasonable, takes the annual premium up to £380ish.
Aviva have been brilliant. Two high insurance group cars, both modified, along with a VW Caravelle. Including every extra (legal, courtesy cars, comprehensive breakdown cover) for the princely sum of £800. I could pay not far off that just for one of the cars with lots of companies...
I use Admiral and generally get a quote that is equal to the combined total for the lowest possible quotes I get for each car through compare the market. Having one renewal does make life a bit easier but no real saving.
