No plans to - spent around £3k updating the 5yr old ebike and building the Ragley.

That said, if this year goes to plan work wise, there may be some money sloshing around for an SL ebike later in the year.

I don't tend to buy bikes very often, usually keep them for a good few years

Looking at a Sonder Camino after 4 years on my decathlon road bike. It was 500 quid and I only expected to have it for a year or so to see if I like drop bars but it ended up chugging along for much longer so it's done it's duty now and will be retired to commuting and errands.

Possibly a new winter road bike that'll take decent sized tyres. The current one is max 25mm which fell horrible compared to the tubeless 28s on the nice bike!

No idea what though, possibly just a frame but it won't be anything fancy!

At present no as I think I’ve got all bases covered. 12 year old Moda road bike needed some serious money spending on it so that got bodged on the cheap last year and is now my Zwift bike and was replaced with a Specialized Roubaix, sold the drop bar gravel bike and got a Scott Scale for XC duties and my 2017 Whyte T130 has just had a slackeriser fitted along with 140mm air shaft and new cranks. Could just do with another nice set of 27.5 wheels for it.
I’m 65 now and I think my next purchase will be an Ebike lite but probably not for a good few years. 70 birthday maybe?

I may get a new long travel bike and sell my Sentinel, I’m interested in the new Privateer as I love my 141, or maybe a new frame of some description, Madonna 2.2 in the sale, I was tempted by the cheap Megatowers.
I got a genesis Boradway just before Christmas,  it will be a pub bike so is unlikely to get much use until summer.

I've ordered a p7 29er! A completely irrational decision but it has made me happy.  Very excited and glad to get an Orange in case it is my last chance.

I just did, and I suspect it might be my final non-motorised trail FS.
I tend to get 7-8 years life out my bikes (this purchase replaces my 2016 Yeti SB6) so being in my 60s now i doubt i will replace again in 8 years time without a motor.

Enjoying my 2015 purchase too much still and after the blood, sweat, tears and swearing of rebuilding the back end last year it owes me 2024 😂

The truth is also that I'm not riding enough to really justify blowing the cash.

I did think about buying one of those heavily discounted Vitus hardtails that were PSAd last week but I don't need it right now and maybe when I do the (more) money would be going to Bird (I really like the look of the Zero 29 or a Cotic - love that steel thing).  I've no axe to grind with Wiggle/CRC but I keep bikes a long while and I'd prefer to get what I want when I'm ready.

I’d rather get someone to modify the rear stay to convert my old On-One 853 singlespeed to a Gates belt drive. Almost zero maintenance, even lighter than it already is and I could ride it along a sandy beach without trashing the drivetrain.

I might actually get out and ride the bloody thing!

I hope not. I've just ordered 426e of consumables to get the old ones running smoothly again. Roadie was changed when discs and tubeless came along. The MTB when Lapierre launched the all carbon 27.5 Zesty AM. The Brompton is timeless (though I've fitted a 7 speed derailleur conversion to get rid of that energy sapping Sturmey).

So my current bikes work just fine and there are no bikes on the market that might tempt me into a bike shop for a test ride. I've tried Electrics from half an dozen brands and didn't like any of them enough to clutter up my shed any more than it's already cluttered.

Yep new bike year!
I've sold my Sonder Evol 2019,and I'm currently toying with a new Bird Aether 9 (Shimano build) or a Canyon Neuron.
I'm leaning towards the Bird as a UK based company and I can spec what I want.

No. But I occasionally see a local youth pulling mad wheelies on a red and gold PK Ripper cruiser and that bike looks so nice I do go 🤔

TBH I won't buy another new bike.
I bought my first full new bike last year (kenevo sl) and have barley ridden it, combination of weather and injury I've kinda lost the fun of riding.
With the cost of everything nowadays and the ever increasing prices it just doesn't make sense.

Not unless my ancient On One Dirty Disco finally dies catastrophically and can't be repaired (again) in which case I'll be in the market for a frame. The only e-bike I have any interest in is the new Levo SL, but that ain't happening any time soon. But basically no.

Waiting on my Dawley Eponym HT frame to be built. Ordered in Nov, so I think that still counts? Apparently it should be built in a couple of weeks time. Oooh the excitement!

I really want to get a full suss for the first time in about 7 years but recent baby and well the general world is making the cost challenging.

Actually need to bloody ride any bike as well... been a pretty poor start so far!

As I have a cellar full of bikes not turning a wheel in months I think buying another would be foolish.

Ordered for delivery in February.

I hadn't planned to but I've wanted this particular model for a while and they had £1000 off.

I've justified it to myself by selling my DH bike and should get some decent money back when I sell the current eeb, so only about £1000 to update.

Another ebike obviously.

Yes I should buy a new bike this year. Or a frame and bits

My MTB is 3 years old and arguably the geometry a bit dated. However it doesn’t get ridden loads and in reality I’ve only ever ridden 2 descents on it and thought I’d be benefiting from a more capable bike. So no real need to change it.

On the other have the gravel bike is 8 years old and gets ridden 2 or 3 times a week. It’s a dogs dinner of bits. I’d like to start again on a new frame to take wider tyres and sort the brakes out. Either hydraulic and or bigger rotors, which would be a PITA and or impossible on the current frame.

But really I should start with a bike fit.

No new bikes for me this year or probably next year either. Need to reign in my spending on bikes and surplus parts. My bikes are all fairly up to date so it feels like unless the frame is broken any new standard/geometry change is going to make such a negligible difference it just isn't worth it. Almost like bike development has plateaued particularly for someone like me that prob wouldn't notice subtle changes.

I have a potential plan to upgrade my Scott Spark to an Orbea Oiz for racing at the end of the year.  Much depends on a) my performance b) my head.   Now with health issues to contend with, if I can’t be happy to enjoy mid pack racing then there’s no point carrying on XC racing in 2025, and therefore no point dropping a lot of money on a new bike.

Either way Jnr will likely inherit the Spark, so 2nd hand NBD for him

Yup,  Pace RC429 pre ordered. I have a love/hate relationship with hardtails, have one for a year or two then move on, but I've always wanted a Pace and this one looks a real nice middle ground in terms of geo, travel and intended use. And its red, so...

Won't be here for a few months so currently browsing bargain components for the build.

Nope, don't need one currently.

What I will probably do is tweak some of my bikes to better suit my use (and ageing body).

Just bunged guards on the gravel bike (despite not really liking them) to make it a practical more winter road/off-road option, might go for a 2x setup to make it more generally useful,

Road bike is fine (for summer only), MTBs are fine (Probably more for dry weather too these days).

Tyres, brake pads and drivetrain consumables should be the majority of it I reckon.

For 2024 I'd rather buy new riding kit and parts than new bikes I just don't need. And hopefully improve my credit score too(?)...

Yes, maybe. I haven't ridden a mountain bike in probably 15 years and solely road ride now, but I am keen to race in some form or another and whilst I enjoyed CX when I tried it, I really CBA with the volume of mud (or the cleaning of it, to be more accurate). And not prepared to race my one and only carbon road bike in crits.

The upshot being I think I'll try some local XC races in the summer and so may buy a slightly racy hardtail.

Been watching the various "what hardtail" threads on here with interest, don't want to spend loads but maybe a Chisel or Procaliber, or even a BMC Two Stroke.

Aye, me, if I can sell my Stumpy I'm going back to a hardtail.

Tempted to sell my Ti HT to fund a short travel full sus (used) and also like the look of the Marin Gestalt XR. A gravel bike with actual useful geometry. Will probably just keep the HT as money is tight. Look to upgrade forks and wheels on it maybe.

The Swarf Contour in the classifieds looks lovely. I’d snap that up if I had the funds.

Last time a bought a bike new was 2001, since that time I’ve bought several used frames and built them up using the components that can be reused on the new to me frames.

I have two builds going on currently. A cotic solaris max and bird AM9, it’s a slow process because I trying to use components off my current bike which is not boost nor a 29er. Obviously there’s a lot of new parts bought and to be bought.

No chance.
Bought a new road bike in August 2022 (which I absolutely needed, my original road bike was 20 years old!)
Bought a new MTB in September 2023 - again absolutely needed, I'd virtually given up MTB and the one bike I had was also about 20 years old!

I do kind of need a new CX (my current one is 10 years old) but as it still works fine it'll do for a while yet. I think the point at which it needs new wheels will be the critical bit, it's got QR hubs on it so short of a custom build, finding decent off the peg wheels will be a pain.

Probably not, but my historical average says otherwise
I bought a new one in 2020, 2022 and 2023 and a second hand one in 2021

Doubt it. I could bore you with a list of the reasons why not, but there's the £432 a month train ticket to commute to work for starters. Or the £620 EDF bill last week....  but I said I wouldn't go on....

Nope. I have all the bikes I'll ever need for the foreseeable future: lightweight road bike (just dropped SRAM etap for Shimano cables), gravel bike, short-travel MTB. They're all mid-to-high end in spec so I can't even think of any upgrades from now on. Maybe I'm done for the next five years?

But if I was to buy a bike, it would be a Fairlight Secan for travelling with.

Will get rid of my old 26er bandit and get something off an xc flavour with 29" wheels as it is an itch i need to scratch.
Either a spark or an oiz depending on what is around at the right price (second hand if course)

the new Orbea Laufey

I really like the look of those too. They look great and it’s unusual to see a true hardcore hardtail from a mass manufacturer. Also in frame storage rules.

Bought four bikes in 2023 and swapped parts around heavily on one of those.  Think I spent more time buying and building bikes then selling them so this year I need to ride loads and buy little!

I ordered a new road bike on Friday which should be delivered on Tuesday. It is a Cannondale Synapse 2 Disc which is an AL frame with Tiagra groupset. RRP is £1650 and I got it for £1091 from Sigma Sports.

It will replace a Synapse that I bought in 2014 which has done many miles on audax duties and will now be my commuter/pub bike.

Looking forward to having hydro discs and larger tyres as the current 25mm struggle with potholes especially during the dark.

@Kramer

Sure!

I bought the bike with insurance money after both my bikes were nicked from my garage. (Full suss Ti Lynskey and a Zaskar LE with full XTR).

At the time of the payout, bikes were limited - peak covid. I ended up with the S3 Carbon Comp but I really should have got the S4. I'm too big for it but I was desperate to get another bike. But I've always had a bit of a "hate you, bike" as every time I ride it. I feel it's too small and it's a fraction of the bikes I lost (plus love time and effort building and maintaining them).

Went to Europe for 6 months and since we've been back I've barely ridden it apart from some coastal path rides. I'd be much better off with a short travel hardtail, and the kids need new bikes so my plan is to sell the Stumpy I dislike and fund a new hardtail and a couple of decent BMXs for the kids.

It is a great bike, no doubt. It's just the equivalent of me owning a V8 4x4 for bimbling round town and the odd curb 😀

Once I've sold my old E-Bike (Haibike XDuro Nduro RX) I'll hopefully get a Haibike Nduro 8 - if they get down to under £4k.

Or maybe a Vitus E Mythique if they go back on sale.

On the plus side for retailers I've spent almost £400 on parts so far this year and its only 15th Jan. Bought a new bike 12 months ago. Perhaps with belts tightening, more people will be looking to maintain their bikes rather than chuck them after a few years, assuming the frames have some life left in them

Top of my bucket list is a 29er Orange Five but living in Spain post Brexit it has become quite difficult to buy from Britain. Then of coarse there's the recent news of Oranges' troubles. I think I may be one of those blokes who has contributed to their woes by keeping and riding my 2002 Sub3 and 2009 Five.

I've no plans to buy anything else.

If I do decide to buy a bike, it will likely be this - Heckler SL ebike. Sub 19kg with a 60nm motor

Need to make a few £££ first though

Enigma Etape road bike in early 2022.
Fairlight Secan gravel bike in late 2023.
I think a Cotic Solaris or Fairlight Holt will be 2025...so no, not this year...😭
