Could someone explain to me as to what the broken or solid white lines represent in the centre of any A or B road please? 😯 😕

there appear to be quite a few exclusions though - possibly something to do with the car manufacturer being German and if you are texting or phoning I think you can ignore them as well

I think he means it's as usual the rules apply to all except for those who don't think they do.

They have omitted the Peak District amendment for overtaking cyclists.

If there are solid lines and oncoming traffic you are able to exercise one of two options to enable you continue to make rapid progress:

1. You may force the the cyclist off the road to the near side, should there be a dry stone wall the cyclist can be squashed against this and the wall's design will act like a cheese grater, removing the hazard for you and vehicles behind you. There is no requirement to stop at this point as the debris will be cleared up by the plentiful scavengers such as corvids that inhabit the Peak. Do not use your mobile at this point to call the emergency services as this is dangerous and may cause loss of concentration, somebody else will attend to this matter.

2. You may cross the solid white lines into the oncoming traffic. Your execution of this manouver signals to the oncoming drivers that you are exercising your right of way and that they should seek to pull into the verge / wall / footpath / walkers on their near side. If, at this moment, they too are overtaking a cyclist they may immediately implement Option 1.
