Is there anything wrong with placing an under-counter freezer next to an under-counter electric oven? With regards to safety and efficiency? They wouldn't actually be touching. The oven is enclosed on the sides by 16mm board and then the freezer will stand a few mm from that. Cheers.

I personally wouldn't if possible. We were on our 3rd american-style fridge-freezer in 10 years in our previous house - it was positioned directly next to the mid-height double-oven unit with 2 x 16mm boards between them plus a 50mm air gap all around the fridge-freezer. Might just have been unlucky but I'd still try to avoid placement next to each other.

I'd want some really good insulation between them (and a bit of an air gap too).

I wouldn't place an oven under counter anyway. Needs to be at chest level for easy in and out of hot things.

Not ideal but how often is the oven used? So a small bit of heat might get across the air gap and through 16mm chipboard a few times a week. A few pence increased running costs for the fridge freezer..

Maybe not ideal layout from the point of view of rwo people using the kitchen at the same time but that depends on other factors.

The oven is already installed, a long time ago. it's at the end of a run of worktop, completely enclosed at the side. I was hoping to place the freezer next to it and then extend the worktop to cover it. Hmm, annoying as that placement is the obvious candidate.

My fridge freezer (American style) is next to the double oven. No problems. 🤞

Parents had a double oven next to a built-in fridge freezer for years. You could tell one side of the fridge was warmer than the other. Don’t do it!

Well as long as it's a safety no-no then I think I'll have to go for it, maybe give it an inch or so of space.

We have an integrated, under counter fridge and freezer on either side of our oven. Never had any issues at all, and there's only around 10mm total gap at the most.

The oven is in it's own cabinet - 15mm sides, the fridge and freezer are slotted into the gaps where a 600mm cabinet would fit

We have a normal fridge/freezer right next to our built in double oven, never had an issue.

How long ago was that though? Bearing in mind energy efficiency and therefore insulation standards have improved a hell of a lot.

I doubt it would be a safety issue.. If you have an air gap.. Not sure whether it would help efficiency of the fridge though.

How efficient are American style fridges nowadays? I'll be honest, I just don't see any need for them but maybe that's just me.

Family of four FWIW. Always cook from scratch. No ready meals.
