There must be someone on here that knows about whisky other than it gets you sloshed.
I got given a bottle for 21st by my mum and dad. It's a Douglas Laing bottling on their Old Malt Cask label from Port Ellen distillery which is was closed in 1983. It was distilled in 1982 and bottled in 2003 so is 21yo. They paid £120 for it back in 2003 but I can't find anything about how much it would be worth now. I can find Port Ellen whiskies but not this one d some of them are scarily expensive.
I've a friend who will almost certainly tear your arm off for that.
Sorry, what was the question?
Oh yeah, didn't actually say, but my question is "How much?"
Maybe try a whisky forum Matt?
http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/forum/ for instance, there'll be others I expect.
Edit, if It's that one that Pete put up I'd hang onto it a bit longer!
No pete, that's 1979 21yo, 3yrs before mine.

Any closer?
I am off to bed.
Keep it and enjoy it, whichever one it maybe.
That's the right age but it's in the same carton as the one you posted before. I've done all the looking through the various online whisky shops and drawn a complete blank. All I know is that from the looks of things it may be in the region of £500-600 which is a hell of a lot of money for a bottle of spirits in anyone's book.
On the scotch whisky auction site between £200 and £330 if this is the one,
Drink it now before it gets too expensive ..
