How really special do you want your single malt to be?

No such thing as a bad whisky, just some are better than others. Apart from Royal Lochnagar, bleargghh...

Don't spoil it by putting it in a decanter.

http://www.whiskyshop.com/Shop/Glenmorangie-25-year-old-PID3249.aspx That is my favourite whisky of all time. It is however £260/bottle.

You'll be needing an Irish whiskey to go in the Waterford. A Lismore upright decanter or Alana ship's style would be nice. A Bushmills 10 year old malt is all you need. Good whiskey needn't be rare or expensive.

The Macallan 18. Don't put it in a decanter. Thread closed!

Actually I think The Macallan sienna is a very good substitute for the 18. Saved a bit of the last bottle of 18 to have a blind tasting.

You sound like a bottle of the most expensive The Macallan you can afford would suit you perfectly.

Grouse, on account of once you decant it, nobody can tell what it is. (probably the only reason to decant whisky) And it's certainly special.

What do you like already?

If you're going to put whisky in a decanter, make sure it's airtight.
