I have one program that I would like to run and don't rally want to buy a full windows license.
There's a lot to chose from. Which one would you recommend?
As cheap as possible.
Most/all environments will require a Windows licence key to get going.
VirtualBox is Oracle's freeware offering.
Parallels or Fusion are the paid options.
To the best of my knowledge they are not actually emulators, they are "virtualisation" products which allow you to run Windows (a full licenced copy) in a partition. So yes, you still need a licence.
Where could I buy a cheap windows? I'm sure XP would run this programme but Windows 7 would definitely do it.

Im running Windows 7 home premium in Parallels inside of OSX Yosemite. Parallels assigns a portion of your RAM for windows tasks leaving the rest for OSX. Its very easy to assign a higher/ lower percentage as required. It runs in OSX so there is no rebooting required to use windows. You still have the OSX interface too so it doesn't even feel like you are using windows at all. I think the windows 7 copy was around £45 from ebay, and parallels is £65.00, although you can install windows onto a partition using the bootcamp tool in OSX. Just means rebooting into Windows whenever you want to use it.
Personally I use a virtualisation product as above (different ones depending on performance required), but you could also try Codeweavers CrossOver Mac if the app you want to run is on their supported list. This is actually an emulator, and you don't need a Windows license.
