Tried the search function and failed...

So any thoughts on a shop or brand of tool cabinet/chest thing before I just default to Halfords?

Seems quite tricky to see many of them in the flesh.

Thinking along the lines of this:

Costco?

Or Snap-on 😉

Halford's pro ones are ok, half price at least half a dozen times a year.

This.

I got two last year, for less than the price of one.

Yup: hang on the for the special offers I'd be amazed if you have to wait longer than a couple of months. You could get the 7 drawer, plus a 5 drawer and another smaller one for the same price.

I've got the halfords industrial ones - the roll cab, middle chest and top chest, that's the black ones. No complaints after 6 months use and would definitely buy again.

The black is much better quality than the red.

When I asked about them on here someone pointed out that the top box on the industrial one was annoying because you had to open the top lid to open the drawers. This isn't the case unless you always lock it. You open it once, open all the drawers, shut the lid then close the drawers and they open.

And as above, wait for a deal on them, wait until they do a flash 10% off (Usually a Thursday 12-2pm) and join british cycling for another 10% off when picking up in store.

And, from experience, the black ones come on offer just after the red ones!

...and get stacked on the pallet too high and all the stock in the whole place is crushed.

Bought a 2 ton engine crane off this company the other day, though the tool chests & roller cabs seemed good value too:

I'd very much like the 96" silver wheeled workbench/cab for christmas, thanks.

Machine Mart are generally good if you want to actually see them, my local place has a good chunk of the range on display.

That is who I have been looking at for engine cranes too. Was going to pop in and take a look and pick one up next time I am up that way (not urgent, just want one ready for some future work)

I like the aluminium handles on their chests designed so you can slip a strip of card in identifying the drawer contents. Pointed a couple of people to to the mobile tool chests which look pretty decent.

I have the Halford Pro (red) bottom and top cabinets. I decided that I wasn't enough of a robust user to warrant the extra spend on the Industrial (black) chest.

TBH the Pro cabs are just fine. Drawers are on bearings and both units arrived in tip top condition.

Wait for the inevitable pre-Christmas offers and decide where you want to spend your money - Pro or Industrial.

Are you saying you're a "wheels on the ground" kind of toolchest user, who likes to choose his tools with a bit of finesse, rather than just crash through, bouncing off stuff?

You must be desperate to get them if you couldn't wait for a flash 10% off deal. With that and british cycling membership you could have got the deal for £242.

I don't rate the Halford ones at all. If you can get the Costco ones or know someone who can then do so. I have the Clarke industrial ones though Machine Mart and they have stood up well to years of abuse but given the choice I would go for the Costco ones now as they are a bargain.

dunno what your all doing to your roll cabs that needs an industrial for home use.....

i have a halfords pro cab bought stupidly cheap that gets used daily and showing no signs of giving up after 5 years (8 for the top box)

i have a pair of cheapo bnq torq bearing rollered drawer units that see occasional use mostly used for storage .....both types will cope with average home use no sweat.

b ut then this is the place that said i needed a 189 quid toaster to toast bread a few times a week.

Main reason I went for the industrial over pro was the size of the middle and top chests in the pro spec weren't deep enough.

Plus black looks much nicer than red.

I didn't 'need' the industrial ones, but that's what I wanted. But I also have an expensive toaster - it toasts bread, looks good and it's my money I'm spending.

My 'pro' must be nearly 20 years old. Still going strong.

Cabinet has had the motorbike on top when stripping down and I've been stood on it as platform. The chest has been used to make a ramp and also supported the car engine on it when removing an engine bracket.

Halfords industrial with a Clarke side locker is my choice to wheel about the workshop. Sturdy enough and for £400 a bargain. Sure it's not snap-on but then d rather spend on bikes.

My vote goes to the black halfords one got the roll cab mid and top tool chest on a deal and as iam a service engineer and have been for the last 15 odd years I think more than anyone else I have a fair idea what what's what when it come to tool boxes

P.s. The machine mart ones look nice but are a pile of s##t when it come to auctual use out in the field

What side locker did you buy parkesie? Ones I've seen seem to be a touch too deep to match the depth of the halfords industrial roll cab.
