well the title says it all really, but what would the singletrack hive mind buy, with a budget of 200€?

or is it better to buy a normal phone and blow 50€ on a case?

ideally not something that's too big to fit in the pocket of my jeans either.

thanks everyone.

I have toyed with this - looked at the one singletrack was reviewing - could never get the bloody thing delivered.

stuck with the Sony XZ2 - its still ip68; a decent case - (its also got extra strengthening for twisting etc)

I looked at the samsungs (again - ip68) - but the "edges" are a bit too prone to breaking.

the metal edges of the xz2 should offer a bit more.

there is the compact (which I have always had previously) - but decided to bump up to the bigger screen this time - that offers the same - with a plastic back too - so less glass to break.

often the rugged phones are not by big manufacturers, and thus lacking something...

Been running a Blackview BV7000 for over a 14 months now and impressed by how rugged it actually is, I'm a serial mobile phone destroyer who was getting feed-up with replacing phones every 6 months.

Mine is a slightly older model (1.8 Octet core, 4GB Ram, 64GB memory, USB-C port, GPS/Glassnos, dual sim) and I think I only paid around 160GBP for it but its been pretty reliable with just a couple of Androidy glitches in that time, all resolved with a trusty reboot.

One issue you need to be aware of with these type of phones is that your connectors, in this case the USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack, need to be a little longer than normal to bypass the extra layer of protection around the phone.

Clearly over budget as it's an iPhone XS, but I've literally just bought an otterbox defender case for it. had it on since last night. It's much chunkier than what I had but so far I like it, less worried about dropping it now or the kids playing around with it

Samsung S7, nearly 3 years old now, lives in my pocket biking and running in all weather, even had it snorkelling. In a 6 quid spiegen case.

Slightly over your budget, but a mate has An AGM A8 which he seems to love and hasn't managed to destroy yet. Another friend has their higher X2 model which again seems clumsy mountain biker-proof, but is a step up in price.

If such things are bonuses to you, relatively little cruft is added to the default Android installation and there seems to be good community support for aftermarket ROMs.

Has anybody found a decent case for a Moto G4?
