You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I only ticked Glasses because I got no choice as to wearing them 🙁
Hardly STW Niche.
Glasses are currently scored at number 2 so they clearly are.
I don't own a German estate car but I do own a Golf GTi and T5 California. Surely that trumps a run of the mill Audi A4 for niche points?
Children.
Glasses and a job in IT for me.
Beard, children and glasses for me.

I hate wearing glasses, contacts for me.
Can only tick the children box.
Glasses aren't really an STW niche, are they? Nor are children.
I have a German car but it's not an estate.
Job in IT
Just sold my 5 a few days ago!
Glasses, in need of replacement
Quality wris****ch - an Elliot Brown, it's lovely not Quartz not Auto so may not make the cut
Job in IT - Meh.
Orange Five - but it's about 6 years old, I bought it 2nd hand, it has 26" wheels, no dropper post, no flared head tube, it's almost a relic!
Missing Category: Beer belly
Beard, glasses, job in IT, German estate car.
can you "own" a child?
None - although I would describe my 18yr old £55 Accurist as quality, but didn't count it as I doubt that's what was meant.
T5 for niche points!!? Pahahahaha..
That's like saying having an arsecrack is niche! 🙂
Beard, IT, DE.
2/9. Must try harder.
I see no list'ist 😐
Just the Specs and kids. Where was the Cross/Fargo/Tripster/GravelCore question?
Nothing, nada, nout, zip.
_smug_
STW niche? They are having a laugh. Being over forty and having access to a PC when you should be working isn't niche 🙂
I drive a Golf but it's not an estate, and sometimes have to wear glasses. So not many of the above.
Glasses and beard for me, though I'm not sure either are niche.
glasses, rubbish beard, stove, orange five 🙂
what worries me is only 6% have an orange five. And shouldnt that be a santacruz these days?
None of the above if I can discount grown up children 🙂
I would have thought a ****y coffee machine should have been on the list, I haven't got one of those either.
Exactly. I feel cheated only being able to tick two (children/woodburner).
Glasses (reading). Children (in their 20's). ex owner German estate car. Worked in IT in 1985-6
Woodburner, kids and razor.
I hope grown-up children don't count, would much rather be unique. 😐
I feel like I'm failing to see a list to tick things on?
Titanium bike
26er
Car outfitted for carrying bikes in its boot, which also undeniably looks like it's for efficient murdering and body disposal
Glasses
Beard
Wood burner
German car
No bike
De razor
Too many 🙁
Shirley the job in IT should really be job in NHS though?
Whoops...: glasses, beard, stove, children, vintage Omega... and surely Soul OR Five...... 😀
front page for the poll
Missed out pedant, argumentative, T5 owner and fit wife
Lots of bikes
Trained for years but still fat
Fully rigid bike
Expensive bikes for kids
Glasses and DE here but I've not been here long.
Where's the coffee machine option? 😕
Lots of bikes

Enough about you, what about the poll?
Beard, (occasional) glasses, work in IT. Clearly I'm just playing at it.
Where is this poll then? I don't see it either? Front page is a stolen bike...?
Front page to the right of the News feed.
shouldn't it be "STW cliche" items ?
Reading glasses and a watch for me. Must try harder I suppose.
Missing category = single speed bike. ( I haven't got one of those either 🙂 )
Missing category = single speed bike.
That's so 2002.
That's so [s]2002[/s] retro.
FIFY

Job in IT... still do a bit of fixing on the side, so check

Not sure what else is on the lest so can't see how much worse it might get!!!
Mondeos are made in Germany aren't they?
Only things missing for me are:
A "quality wris****ch", I've got a couple of very nice Nixons, but I don't think they count.
A job in "playing Angry Birds" / forum browsing.
A Halifax filing cabinet.
😉
A few niches missing from the poll. Bean to cup machine, SS, Fat or CX bike, and as said it should be a Soul or 5.
None here Liar, liar, pants on fire
My Casio g-shock is very good quality 😀

Beard removed need for razor
I don't give a toss about the rest but the 'work in IT' one has always wound me up. Glad to see it's finally been laid to rest as complete nonsense. Try again with 'work in the health service' for a much higher mark.
"laid to rest"? Hardly.
Have a think about all the people you know. I'd guess that at least half of them are parents (if anything the poll seems to under-represent these)
A substantial number of them will use glasses for reading, distance or just for cycling (so a high number not exactly unexpected).
34% with a "quality" wris****ch? That's way above what I experience day-to-day so does indicate some sort of niche.
28% with a beard? Even assuming right up front that this is a male-dominated site, that's got to be higher than in the general population. Maybe many (like me) are doing a seasonal beard?
Wood burning stove - 25%!! Really? Most of the folk I know don't live in houses big enough for one.
Job in IT. 23%. Do you reckon that's fairly standard across the general population? Think of all those shops, hotels, restaurants, bars. Think of folk in public transport, think of the number of folk in the NHS etc. 23% is way, way higher than you might expect.
Just the stove for me, when the council decided to refit their (my house) housing stock with an air source heating/hot water system and radiators they removed existing open fires and bricked up the fireplaces so I promptly knocked mine back out, lined the chimney and fitted a multi-fuel stove as I have an unlimited supply of seasoned wood, I saw no reason to pay for heating when I get it for free (as long as the stove is on that is).
genuinely surprised that neither 'sciatica' or 'periumbilical hernia' made it into the top 10
Someone started a thread on here a while ago. 'What's your job'. The vast majority of people who responded were in the health service.
Of course, outside of that run a survey online and the vast majority of people who will see and respond will be people who work in IT, you know, what with them being online 100% of the time and everything. I know what the reality is (I don't work in IT any more), the stereotype is ridiculous and inaccurate.
If people want to believe it, that's up to them.
The list is missing - disc braked road bike, fat bike, 29er, one other daft bike with weird curly bars that aren't drops, hip flask, good quality tent for biking, cheap rockshox reverb...
I have a child and a german estate vehicle.I once owned a sub5....
That list also needs shedfetishist , of which I have an interest. 😀
7/10 Must Try Harder.
None here.
Glasses- for reading/telly
Wrist watch- Seiko, well its quality to me.
Log burning stove- made a portable one, is that another niche?
Children, Stove, Glasses.
Thought there might have been a cheap-as-you-get casio watch niche too....
Children and watch
Surprised my 26 HT isn't niche anymore (especially with the mega manitou slate forks - pikes, CTD....pah!)
So from the statistics it looks like you have to have a special watch with thousands of miniature dials, this makes you blind. This obviously attracts the female of the species and after which you can own a child 😉
Bet Darwin didn't see that coming.. but then again he had a beard 😉
I dry my shoes outside in the sun under a roof overhang.
I see we've moved on.
Missed this first time around but lets give it a go:
Children - Yes x2
Glasses - Yes
Quality wris****ch - if you can count a very first W001 Animal one a quality watch yes. I suspect no though!
Beard - more of overlong, gypsie stubble but yes
Wood burning stove - Yes x2
Job in IT - Yes
German estate car - been there and done that x2. Loaded T5 camper now.
'DE' Razor - No. See above for reference to gypsie facial hair
Orange Five - Yes
