So today, all the Stepford Husbands on the estate are pressure washing drives and patios - very strange how we've all synched in this time of crisis.

Our poor old Karcher was a bottom of the range free gift with some car insurance about 15 years ago. It's always lacked a little grunt, but just about good enough, but I'm frankly feeling a tad inadequate compared to some of the explosive yellow penis extensions on throbbing display all around this morning. Plus, both wheels have finally snapped off and my patio spinner has ceased up.

Ideally want one with the adjustable water pressure to vary from "safe enough to do the bikes" to "will punch through a car door skin with the big lance"

Which model will act as the Viagra for this middle aged failure in the patio cleaning stakes?

We've got a new Karcher K4 full control that's good (my sons) and I've an old Halfords washer that's been going strong for over 10 years.

The only issue we've had is the nozzle is sometimes quite hard to get on the washer, and there is a yellow plastic 'washer' that's popped off the snow foamer and the lance, but fixed with super glue.

Never heard of Nilfisk - how do they compare?

I have the smallest Karcher - K2. The flow rate is adjustable on the tip of the blaster. I am on my 3rd, all being replaced under warranty, at considerable hassle, by Karcher.

There are full forums of pressure washer geeks, just like biking...

I’ve got a Karcher K5 premium. I don’t like it. I find that the hose is too stiff and it’s a nightmare to roll on and off the drum. Everything is plastic. Often the handle doesn’t connect properly to the unit with the Bluetooth or whatever it is and it doesn’t switch on. If I bought again I would try something else. I don’t know what.

I just bought a karcher k5 from amazon. It turned up and pisses water everywhere from the water inlet, so much there isn't enough pressure to actually use. They have extended the returns window 6 months but I can't get a refund till I return it, which when under lockdown is impossible

For such an expensive item I am pretty annoyed, that's a pretty fundamental QC failure

Avoid

I am back to my bottom of the range nilflisk which is 4 years old. I only was trading up as I wanted more power, it currently doesn't get all the dirt off my patio as I'm left with black spots on some flags.

The more you spend the more you get with pressure washers, you can also even get petrol powered ones for extra umph!

I just picked up the karcher k2 car pack for £100 from Halfords, it came with two lances and one has different power settings for different surfaces, came with a brush attachment and snowfoam nozzle for the car. The only thing I noticed is that the lance hose isn't the longest at 4 metres so I picked up a 6 metre extension hose too.

I'd seen the K2 pack in Halfords before the lockdown.

Shame the little Nilfisk still leaves spots on the patio. It all gets a bit spendy above the base models for all brands

It’s pretty good to be fair for £70 or so. But I think lacks a bit of power, 110psi I think. The k5 was 4 times the price for 140psi, if it worked.

I had a mid range Karcher one, for the patio, an optional accessory of a rotating contained rotating head, this kinda thing :

https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwj056GAp8foAhVFtO0KHYhHDSgYABAHGgJkZw&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESQOD2yg-y_gjdbhd55gHF6B3B5-cSN3iHLZ24vVjFTBoU7nQgIR-62SXXWWyE7C5r9ixnCA5VQGp5uBknUKyAm6U&sig=AOD64_2hLLoayWcZM5yq1SHLcweakHkkMQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwi-zZmAp8foAhX9aRUIHXU-CcsQ9aACegQIDRBF&adurl=

made all the difference.

i did however use it for the annual clean up on Sunday and the main body of the machine was cracked and gubbed and is in the bin...

I won't be replacing it in a rush..

If your not a brand snob get the Titan from screwfix, 130 and an aluminium pump . Or a Nilfisk if your flush .

I was going to get a K4 but seen the Titan one in screwfix and got that instead. Prob less than half price of the Karcher and just as good. I got the patio brush with mine.
I’ve had Karcher in the past which are good but the Titan is on par.
