You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
After seeing the video about Keanu's bikes that I posted a link to I thought I'd watch a John Wick film later this evening.
I have all three so which should I torture myself with? Suggestions and short reasoning appreciated.
Otherwise I'll probably go with JW2 as it was more effectively stylised than 1 in my book.
The first one is a really good film, no reason to skip it.
JW1, none of the rest.
I enjoyed the first one during my 1 month Prime trial. Annoyingly JW3 is on Netflix but not the second one.
First one...other 2 are fine but first one seems to be the best in my opinion.
All of them in one session. Brilliant! 😀
Watch one and you have seen them all. the plots (if you can call them plots) are interchangeable and you won't remember any characters names. It's just an excuse for stylised violence, which just about makes one of them watchable but any more then it gets very tedious very quickly.
Watch one and you have seen them all
Even worse, I have seen them all. 🙂
Going for the common opinion with JW1.
G'night all.
OP - see the James Bond film thread..
Don’t watch any, in the future the Singletrack joy police will be after you....
The first one is the best - just don’t enjoy it 🤣
Watch them in sequence you monster,op!😄
As above, watch the first one first. If you enjoy it, and the world it's set in, go on to 2. If you're still into it, 3 is there for you!
OP – see the James Bond film thread.
Wick seems to be quite accepting of all races and creeds and the assassin business seems to be an equal opportunity employer. (Perkins, I'm looking at you, you bad girl.)
Watch the first then go through the rest.
It's none.
They are all shallow, style-over-substance genre exercises which glorify violence and trade on Keanu's charisma.
And I flipping love them.
Keanu’s charisma
Now come on!😁
Moonraker
This GIF is a comprehensive plot summary of all three movies.

The violence in the first one is completely justified. It was a puppy!
Best sequel is the one that has the bit where he weaponises horses. That’s all I can remember from the sequels.
John wick vs The Equalizer! Fight!
I watched JW1 and a couple of sequences from JW2.
It passed some time quite well.
Now come on!
OK, if you don't get it, you don't get it.
Annoyingly JW3 is on Netflix
Will watch this later, only one I havent seen.
First time viewing of JW1 I was over critical, saw it many months later and just enjoyed the action, JW2 wasnt as good as the first.
JW1 was actually quite good - if you like that sort of thing.
Even though I was really bored on long haul flights, I switched off both JW2 and JW3 when the body count got to above 100. Which was after about 6 minutes ...
They were just shoot ‘em up games in film form.
1, 2 and 3 in that order.
That’s all I can remember from the sequels.
I remember Halle Berry kicking ass with a couple of attack dogs in the third one......rrrrrr
Keanu reprises his famous line from The Matrix in JW3.
Winston "What do you need John?"
John Wick "Guns, lots of guns"
These films seem to have changed the style of film violence. I see more and more action flicks with the close quarters combat style from the JW series.
If you like John Wick you should watch
The Raid
And
The Raid 2
And Cold Pursuit. Gotta respect a film that doesn't waste time on sub-plots and logic that can be spent getting revenge on bad dudes.

They still have the same problem. Basically attacking one at a time...
The first one certainly did look different. I think it was the first time I saw the "headlock and then shoot the guy in the head" move used so much.
As soon as the first one was released to success they announced it had always been planned as a trilogy. Sadly the fact that JW4 is being readied for a 2022 release and JW5 is in production means the plot is going to be stretched quite thin.
plot is going to be stretched quite thin.
The point of John Wick is he doesn't stand round plotting shit, he just gets straight into action.
So who would win in a fight? John Wick or Jack Bauer?
So who would win in a fight? John Wick or Jack Bauer?
Cleric John Preston.
Obviously the correct answer is Violet Song Jat Shariff, but I thought I keep it just between the dudes.

They were just shoot ‘em up games in film form.
A significant portion of the world population seem to spend an inordinate amount of time and money playing those; I can’t be arsed, but I’ll happily spend a couple of hours watching things fall down, go boom!
I watched the first one not so long ago, and rather enjoyed it, if the others pop up on Sky cinema I’ll watch those as well.
The first one is a classic.
2 is ok
3 is just a bit silly.
I really like the whole assasins guild background, they could go a lot more into that as more of a story aspect to the plot, 3 just seemed like and endless fight sequence to me so I don't think i finished watching it. but basically watch them in order.
First one is genuinely good. Next two are overly violent I found and that never normally bothers me.
liam Neeson in Cold Pursuit has a similar vibe (and some humour which is lacking in JW)
or wait for Bob Odenkirk in Nobody

Any Keanu Reeves movie - keep Keanu, replace the rest of the cast with muppets.
In summary: any of them, the "plot" is identical
They are all just silly ‘bloke’ films with barely any plot and lots of stylised violence. I love them! 😂
I’d start with the first one and if you don’t hate it, you can watch them in order although that may not be absolutely vital from a story point of view...
Keanu did make a fair bit of effort to get prepared for the role too...
Bob Odenkirk in Nobody
That does look interesting, basically John Wick remade with an actor capable of displaying emotion.
Also, watch this - awesome film:

More like A History of Violence.
Follow them in order. Whilst the first is a standalone film it does some nice sword building. The second and third are really one story with 2 chapters. They are the natural evolution of the 90s action/martial arts films.
