As per title which Job/s have most benefited from computers? i.e. become easier, more cost effective, quicker, efficient?
Would it be something to do with manufacturing? Factories using robots 24/7?
Would it be accountancy? No more paper accounts, software that does it all for you?

If you're self employed don't you use computers for other work stuff though?

If you're talking about internet rather than computers per se, then jobs that need access to knowledge have been transformed. Right now I have the entire british library at my fingertips for example - every major scientific journal published since the 1800s. And I can use database software to search the entire body of knowledge in my field. So I could search for a particular chemical reaction and have every example ever published displayed in 2 seconds. It would literally have been a day's work physically going to the library 20 years ago.
I doubt that's the most transformed job in society, just one example of a profession that's been turned on it's head.
China's collossal acceleration of scientific research is often tied to the digital revolution for similar reasons - ease of communication (in English), dissemination of research, literature searching etc.
A lot of jobs have been hurt by computers as well of course - and not just in terms of typists being eliminated. We're all doing more and more work just because computers enable so many tasks. So you can run large parts of a business yourself when back in the day it might have been a five man operation.
Meteorology - quite hard to forecast without big computing power.
Also quite hard to forecast with them, apparently!
Well, yes they help me communicate with my clients. Drac, I don't use a kalkewlaytor...just a measuring tape, my addled brain and a string line. 🙂

The computer holds all the facts, numbers and figures for you to know whether something is pants or successful, without a computer i don't know if analysing sales to place orders would be even possible for some of the bigger companies we have today!

Designing in 3D is a lot easier with a pc, likewise FEA is quicker. 😉
Some of the parts I work on were last supplied 30yrs ago, so first step is to create 3D parts from the old hand-drafted drawings. We usually uncover plenty of mistakes simply by being able to model the complete assembly, simulate loads/deflections etc. They probably did a lot of fettling at the assembly stage 30 years ago.

90pc of trades have massively benefited from computers.
I would however, say the manufacturing industry. Computerised machines creating thousands of units an hour all to the same specifications. Amazing to watch them.

Imagine old fashioned typing pools - having to type letters [s]individally[/s] individually, by hand, with no errors, all day, every day!

Teaching: kids know it all before their first day in school. If not - just google it ffs!
Medicine: everyone knows what's wrong with them before they even go to the docs. They just want a rubber stamp on the prescription / post mortem.
Insurance: This will show my age - but my first proper job was looking up tables of factors and vectors for motor insurance. Look up car group -factor 2.2, age 23-27 factor 3.4, inner city factor 6.6, married 0.7, ... vectors for combinations, squares and cubes for weird combos.
Day in - day out. All done by paper. Never spoke to a real customer. Now click click click. HOW MUCH!!!
