On the one hand, you have to deal with barely literate texts from folk asking for the best price and then not turning up. On the other, you have the scamfest of the ludicrously buyer centric protection system.

There must be a better way.

Both work fine for me. Not had an issue with either.

Good and bad points with both, depends what I'm selling I guess. Gumtree edges it for me though coz it's free innit 😀

EDIT: answering the title of the thread - Ebay

With gumtree You get a gut Feeling when people txt you Or ring,if they txt with "Yer rides gansta bruv" you tell them it's sold and don't bother, with ebay you really don't know who who your dealing with,I wouldn't sell anything above £40 on eBay anymore, sold a few things on gumtree, freeads is similar also,in a nutshell ebay is a buyers site.

As has been said, Ebay is for scammers (seller beware), whereas Gumtree is nothing but a fence for stolen goods (buyer beware).

And then there's the STW classifieds...!

Ebay is great....been using it to buy/sell stuff since 2003 and never had a problem. Bought cars, sold cars plus all sorts of large and small items. You just have to follow certain rules!
