Can anyone recommend some earphones for my iphone please. When I'm commuting on the bike I listen to music on the traffic free bit and have my iphone in my back pocket. Obvioulsy this doesn't work very well if I want to pause/stop music etc. So I need some earphones with a remote. Are the apple ones any good? I don't want to spend a fortune as I only use them commuting and don't have the volume loud. I would also prefer ear buds as I don't like the kind of 'disconnected from the world' feeling I get with in ear ones.
Any recommendations?
The standard 'phones are, quite rightly, universally derided. They're crap. I use Ultimate Ears 'phones, and I'd recommend the SuperFi 3 Studio. There are actual iPhone specific versions, the Vi models, but if you go for the Studio versions, they have replacable cables, and you can buy alternative cables with a single button remote and mic for the phone.

The alternative cables are around £20, and you can even replace an individual earpiece if you break one. £49.95 is a good price for phones like these. I've got MetroFi 220vi's, SuperFi 5vi's, and TripleFi 10 Pro. I had SuperFi 4 vi's, and the cable broke after fourteen months, but they were replaced under warranty with the 5 vi's. If I'd realised that spare cables with remote and mic were available I'd have bought the SuperFi 3 Pro and ultimately saved money. The TripleFi's I bought from eBay for £100 less than new, and the replacable cables are a great idea. There's no other iPhone compatible 'phone with replacable cables for £50 that I know of, and the sound quality is excellent. You can also get double flanged eartips, and full custom fit eartips as well.
what you need is a pair of iHeadsHeads

No such thing.
I use Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones. All the controls right, even does voice dialling. Beware of fakes on ebay though
Oi you shouldn't be riding with earphones...dangerous so if you must- use one ear only!
I use my bluetooth ear piece-no cables, I can take a call while riding/stopping (wind reduction model) and you have one ear free to hear traffic if you must have music.
Have 3rd party insurance incase you hit someone too or they will blame you for listening to ipod while riding.
CX500s get my vote
Frankenstein, there was obviously a problem with some of the spare parts:
When I'm commuting on the bike I listen to music on the traffic free bit and have my iphone in my back pocket.
CX500's are good, as are Denons and Klipsch, but having had several sets of 'phones get trashed because the wire broke I still maintain that the SuperFi 3 Studio have the advantage because the cable is replacable. As are individual earpieces. There are no equivalents for £50; the nearest Shure 'phones that have similar are around £300, IIRC.
I use the Motorola bluetooth ones to, might be more than you want to spend though
I use Sennheiser adidias headphones. Sound quality is really good, waterproof apparently (not rode in the rain yet thankfully) and they don't block out all the background noise. Most importanyly they fit comfortably in the ear and won't fall out.

I have a pair of the motorola bluetooth ones but I couldn't get them to pair?!? what was I doing wrong?
If you are interested in the Motorola Bluetooth S9 headphones then you'll be interested to know the S10s come out next week....
Frankenstein clearly you have some problems trying to read simple things. And I'm 43 years old I don't need to be told what to do but thanks for your life tips.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll take a look.
Love my Sennheiser MM50ip headphones, though I have managed to destroy 3 pairs in 15 months...
