While usually the topic of choice is sheds I'm after a greenhouse (and a shed) and anyway a greenhouse is just a shed with windows right? I'm sure there's a few green fingered folk on here!

Currently in the process of removing a couple of dilapidated and collapsing sheds/out buildings which will leave me with a nice flat concrete slab about 12'x8'. Now as much as I would like a super fancy combination shed greenhouse costing several thousand my pockets are unfortunately not that deep.

Im looking for a 6'x6' or 6'x8' preferably wooden greenhouse and similar sized shed to go next to it (so I can paint it to match the fence and planters). There are loads on eBay and from online places and they range from £3-400 to £6-700 but I'm wary about quality and don't want to end up with something flimsy made of low quality wood that won't disintegrate in a couple of years! Most at this level all seems to be dip treated 27x44mm baton and 12mm shiplap and it's hard to discern much between them and I'm wary about buying something that is worse than one of the others.

Can anyone recomend a reputable manufacturer? Preferably one that makes a matching shed to go next to it.

Thanks.

I would search local secondhand ads. Greenhouses can be from free upwards but you have to dismantle and move. More likely to find a quality one if you are picky with all the extras like shelving and vents.

I gave away a cedar alpine house last year as we didn't need it - came with the house.

The new owner is very pleased we are pleased and the greenhouse got recycled.

The guy who dismantled the Alpine House used one of those reciprocating saw things to cut through the bolts and screws then knocked out and replaced with new for assembly.

I'm eyeing a 6x6 wooden greenhouse from Waltons. They are the cheapest around.

I bought a child's playhouse from them last year. The website is informative (lots of tips / videos on making a base, building the product).

Delivery was hassle free you can usually choose a date. The quality is OK. Maybe when you look at the detail there's a few things but for the money I was happy with the playhouse and it's why I will probably be ordering a greenhouse from them in the next week or so.

I wish I had the carpentry skills to build one, that said when I was going to build some planters, when I costed up the timber the total cost was very similar to buying a ready made one from a reputable named brand and the quality of their carpentry was always going to be better than mine! 🤣

I have been been studiously checking gumtree, freecycle and ebay yo no avail. I could have had a aluminium one but she who must be obeyed has vitoed a metal one.

Ive looked at the Walton ones and look ok, suspect they are the same as is made for various brands and also sold under different names by Wickes and Wayfair and the like. Was just wondering about the durability of them as they all seem to use slightly thinner baton and thinker shiplap rather than T&G and all have plastic windows. Also they all seem to have dip treated timber rather than pressure treated  which may reduce the life span?
