Family holiday.

Swimming/snorkeling, maybe a bit of kayaking if available, some historic sites and old towns to wander around too.

Somewhere we can find a small villa or apartment within walking distance of a beach, and again walking distance to a few tavernas.

Needs own airport as we've only got a week, don't want to spend all day on ferries/taxis etc.

Your experiences welcomed 😀

Milos definitely ticks the airport and kayaking requiremnets....Rod at www.seakayakgreece is a great guy. Might be a bit small..maybe not actually. We had 1 week kayaking around it and camping on amazing beaches...

Crete, we went the year before last to a little village near Rethmynon and loved it, lovely people, beaches, culture and natural things to explore and incredible food. I can't wait to go back and fancy exploring the east of the island but flights out of Heraklion seem to be pretty pricey.

Zanti/Xanti/Zakynthos

Had a great family holiday there a few years back. just avoid Laganas/Laganna which is where all the teenagers go for their first foreign holiday

Crete definitely but go to the western end. The east is a lot more touristy - lots of cafes selling full English breakfast etc. Have a look around Chania. Fantastic place.

Zante is a good call Kalamaki despite being the next resort on from Laganas is a good base , I'd also reccomend Rhodes loads of ruins about. We stopped at a resort called Pefkos at the southern end of the island.

Crete - done Iraklion, and over as far as Agios Nic (which could be worse!). Elounda is pricier but nice. Nice place and people, would defo go back.

Corfu - the north/west is okay, avoid the south-east. The airport used to be an organisational disaster, not sure if it's changed?

Kos - okay, but wouldn't go back.

Cyprus - Paphos is less garish than the more eastern towns, hire a 4x4 and go exploring Akamas and the Troodos!

Going to Kefalonia in August, and Rhodes & Santorini are on my to-do list.

Corfu - NW is excellent. arrivals is ok at airport, departures - Lets just say you'll need another holiday to get over the experience. (it actually seemed bad at the time, but was only an hour of chaos).

Rhodes- Pefkos, Lindos,Kalithea or Faliraki don't be put off by Falirakis past reputation. Its nothing like it used to be and its not anything like Laganas,Malia or Kavos.

Kalithea is lovely and has easy access to Faliraki plenty of Restaraunts and watersports on the beach. And a Excellent waterpark. And also close to Rhodes town which is brilliant. Fantastic restaraunts and loads to look at.

Lindos lovely again but very hilly so if you don't like loads of walking it can be hardwork.

Pefkos lovely and quiet.

Kiotari like pefkos but full of All Inclusive Hotels and popular with Russian Tourists parading around.

Airport wise, quite a modern Airport by Greek standards and the only better ones are Athens and the Cyprus Airports. All the Above East coast detinations are 1 hour to 1.5 hours transfer by Coach from the Airport or 20/45 Mins by taxi. Taxis are always available outside Arrivals and have a set price which is listed on the taxi board. They are all blue and white Air conditioned Mercedes taxis.

In typical STW fashion, I'll say Menorca.

Snorkelling/swimming is great (whole island is some kind of marine nature reserve), Ciudadella (sp?) and esp. Mahon are nice places to poke around.
