Avira works for me - it's pretty lightweight in terms of using up resources, and hasn't been troublesome at all. That plus Firefox running NoScript to keep the web-based malware at bay.

+1 for avast, i have it on my 2 computers, my girlfrfiend uses it as well as most of my family. better than avg. None of us have ever had any problem with it.
