I love a boiled egg for my breakfast and was thinking of buying one of those table top egg cookers things.
Can anyone recommend one? Thanks in advance.

& a 3 minute timer.
Crikey, how hard is it to boil an egg?

I have a log powered hob that's a pain in the arse to heat up at 6 o'clock in the morning.
I haven't got a normal hob.
Thanks for your input though.

We have an ALDI one at its great. I’m sure you can pick the same one with a different name from Amazon or eBay.

When Mrs Binners turned up with one of these, I laughed at her mockingly and assumed it was yet another kitchen gadget that would be used then be relegated to gathering dust at the back of a cupboard, never to be seen again

Well, as with most things, I was completely wrong

They are absolutely bloody brilliant things and it gets used all the time

Just put the eggs in your kettle

I have the aldi one and it is brilliant.

Also, who cooks eggs for just 3 minutes? Surely that is just snot?

Tefal sadly no longer do the awesome Toast 'N Egg toaster, although they claim the Toast 'N Beans one can do eggs as well. Any random egg boiler will do - trust me, it's gonna change your life, man. 🙂

We’ve got the Tefal toast & egg. It is awesome. I often have egg & toast for breakfast now as it’s so easy.

Wouldn’t a portable induction hob give you more flexibility for those time you need to do something on the hob other than an egg but can’t be arsed with the log hob.

Salter six egg one works for us. Sadly can only poach two eggs at a time, so I use a pan poacher for more. Once you've had an egg cooker you won't go back. Discovered them at an Air BnB that had chickens and a toaster, but no kitchen facilities, just an egg cooker for breakfast. Recommended.

That link to the Swan egg cooker has been taken down.
Presumably because it's illegal to eat swan eggs.

I think it may have been due to an ongoing legal case involving broken arms

Tefal egg n toast is a brilliant thing. Very quick and reliable way to cook boiled eggs with the least energy input. Assume other egg steamer things are similar.

Wife has a more or less zero tolerance of unnecessary kitchen gadgets but the egg cooker has earned a place.

Few weeks ago I picked up a morrisons own brand one for £8, first attempt at doing a poached was a disaster but since then have had no issues, for £8 I enjoy the simplistic approach of using it vs pan and boiling water.

yes I have one, any brand are okay, they just steam the water to cook the eggs.
Usually the machines do boiled and poached. I have poached eggs virtually every breakfast, it's great.

I must admit I like mine too (Swan 6 egg one as above). I go through phases of snacking on hard boiled eggs (as does one of my daughters) so it's just so easy to bung a load in.

I like to use my pressure cooker (instapot thing...)
It's great for all sorts of other cooking tasks!
But...
3 min on high pressure...BOOM...hard boiled egg...
I too often bung a bunch in there and snack on them.

Mmmmm...eggy..

However, this is really expensive and a daft item if you just want to cook eggs.
Ignore

@pondo it's the same unit. We've had the Tefal toast and egg for years before the mechanics for the toast side failed last year. Was pleased to see they still made it as it's always made perfect dippy eggs, new Tefal toast n beans replaced the old unit and in regular use.

@flicker thank you, that's really useful to know, and genuinely fantastic news! It's the toaster side that's feeling cronky on ours, and I was gutted Tefal no longer do the 'N Egg - but if the 'N Beans does the same job, my day has been made! 🙂 I have a couple of eggs for breakfast every single day, couldn't be any quicker, simpler, more consistent or cleaner. 🙂

No worries. Must admit I was quite unhappy when ours broke and wasn't expecting them to be available anymore. Picked the replacement up from our local Argos and we were back to dippy and boiled eggs within minutes 😀

also have the salter jobbie, its great. finally found a way of cooking more than one poacher at a time successfully (or up to 6 boiled if you so wish). my mate found a lookalike in aldi/lidl that he uses every day, so we'll buy a second if we see one whilst browsing the middle aisles.....

Are you bonkers - 4 seconds over and you'll have a pressure cooker welded shut with eggy goop.

Great thread. We don't eat many boiled eggs because neither the wife nor I seem to be able to get them just right. Might have to get one of those Salter thingummies - I finally admitted defeat with poached eggs a couple of years ago and bought one of those special poached egg pans. Revelation.

I use an instant pot too, quite rare to have one crack and makes it absurdly easy to get the shell off. If you don't have a conventional hob then it would be very useful for loads of other stuff as well.
