Hi folks,
Got a good start up deal with 1&1 for a domain and hosting but got their renewal quote after the first two years and it seems very steep at 11.99 per month?! I'm looking to transfer my domain to another host, any recommendations? I'm basically just using it as a redirect from my wordpress blog so don't need anything fancy.
Cheers in advance
Matt
Are you sure they are quoting just for domain name hosting as that seems very high, we only pay a couple of quid a year for domain name hosting with 1 and 1.
Sorry should have titled this web hosting company. Yes was with 1&1 but that deal is only thus for the first two years.
Do not use 1and1. They are a horrid, horrid company, and I'm speaking from experience.
I now host and register my domains with TSOhost and I can honestly say they have been the best company I've been with for the past 20 years. I would add my affiliate link but that would just cheapen the fact that they are quite simply excellent.
Many companies lure you in with cheap prices then charge extortionate rates for everything thereafter.
123-reg.co.uk are decent for domain hosting. I don't know the figures, but I'd go so far to say they are the industry standard.
I use fresh sites, very good, transparent pricing, and no issues with upgrading or downgrading the domains if needed.
Tsohost here as well...for domain reg and Wordpress hosting. Cheap and very friendly efficient help desk.
TSO host +2
TSOhost +3 great bunch of people, a rarity in interweb world.
I have had no issues with 123 Reg, I'd recommend them to anyone.
I use 123-reg for domain name hosting and have done for about 10 years. no complaints.
I now use knownhost for website hosting. The best technical support i've ever experienced with a hosting company.
Just for domain name I use iwantmyname.com
Very good service from NZ.
+1 for 123-reg here too.
thanks all, in the process of transferring with 123 reg
Maybe a bit late but a plug for my own company: http://www.mythic-beasts.com/domains . We've always aimed for no-nonsense domain pricing: no introductory periods, no lock-in fees, etc.
We picked up a bunch of refugees from 123-reg last year after they quietly introduced a transfer away (aka lock-in) fee for UK domain customers - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/04/03/123reg_shrugs_at_complaints_over_sudden_domain_transfer_fees/ - I know at the time they'd waive it if you moaned loud enough, they may have completely back tracked by now.
