yes its that time of year again and i cant find a thread still open, so.....

we've got 2 decking areas, plus a big wooden gazebo to refresh, so i know its going to pricey.

whats the best value for money on the market at the moment?  osmo? barretine?  something 'home brand'?

not after colours/stains or anything, just something transparent thatll protect it for a couple of years.

thanks

I'm pretty sure Schaeffers New Zealand Style Deck Sealant is the best on the market. There Black Caulk is pretty good too.

i'll thank you now.  at £55 for 20 litres it would appear to be the best value i can see.  the other main players (liberon, barretine) seem to be around £40 for just 5 litres!

screwfix no-nonsense is next best value at £28 for 5 litres.

and er... schaeffers?  you had me there 😀

im a bit of a grammar/spelling pedant too but i couldnt find that in the ad?  unless it was just one of the reviews in which case totally expected 🙂

thanks

Best avoided anyway. I took a bit of time reading the reviews when treating my shed and reading between the lines they changed the formulation and it went rubbish.

Tung oil.

They add Tung oil to varnish to turn it into yacht varnish. So it is a tried and tested finish for outdoor use.

Costs about £40-£50 for 5ltr
