Looking for a bit of advice please / recommendations for what you use. I want a data only sim that I can buy a set amount data that lasts for a longish period.

Say 20gb that lasts for 6 months or more and I can just use what I need. Nothing that only lasts a month.

Where’s best value & coverage? Probably not Three as I want a different carrier to my phone.

Cheers

If you don't find a non- Three alternative, these were as cheap as ~£30 before Xmas, ~£45 is the standard price for the 24GB...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Three-Mobile-Pay-Broadband-Data-Black/dp/B01M3VJ2B2/ref=sr_1_3

Valid for 24 months from when activated, the 12GB version is valid for 12 months.

Three +1.

I know this one, four!

Anyway another thumbs up here for Three. Been with them for probably ten years now and no issues.

That made me laugh far more than it had any right to.

Any non Three options, I was struggling to find anything as good though? Our phones are Three so ideally wanted a different provider incase of bad coverage.

If you call 999 the phone will auto use the strongest provider.

If it is less predictable then use "3" 321

1p per Mb but you only spend as you use

But yes 3 here as well

Can I use that data offer above on my phone? Alongside 321

I think annoyingly, that's going away.

I’m not sure they’ll be happy if I phone them to ask about the weather forecast though 🙂

Three's 321 will soon be 10, 10, 5 which is irritating given the very light use my phone gets when away from WiFi.

For that i'd save a bit of money and use a giff gaff sim. If you don't convert the credit to a gift bag it lasts for ages, the data isn't cheap on a per kb basis, but van trackers use like 20MB a year, so it doesn't matter.

(this is what i've done for the last couple of years anyway - you have to send a text once a year or so to keep it active - i just take the sim out of the tracker and send one).

I know its not quite what you're after, but SMARTY do very cheap monthly deals where the data rolls over if not used so could build up a healthy block depending on your expected usage. you'd have to do the maths

know its not quite what you’re after, but SMARTY

Three again though.

Looks like three are the best / only option for what I want.
Which is fine, their coverage is generally good enough, it just seemed sensible to use something else if possible.

@surfer Just looking on Three and they seem to do 200mb a month for free SIM??

There must be some T&Cs I haven’t spotted but worth looking at for your tracker?

Thanks guys some great options there. Yes uses next to no data so the monthly expiration is a waste of money.
