Petrol mower has finally died. All the excuses I need to replace it with a battery one.

Small lawn, not really any sort of Green keeper and on a budget. What do I get?

I bought a twin 18v Makita one last year purely as I already had lots of batteries for tools already.. it's working well and so much nicer than the crap Flymo it replaced.

Similar to above, I bought the Worx mower and strimmer combo as I already had the jet washer. Also only have a small garden and it's a great not to have to fanny about with extension leads and the like.

We have a Bosch Rotak mower and it's been brilliant for the last 10 years. Still using the same battery.

Solid bit of kit and cuts well.

Following a recommendation on this site I bought a Worx to replace a very aged corded Mountfield. Well that was a waste of a lot of money.
It's s***e.
Two batteries cut a lawn the size of a postage stamp.
The cut is high, I get grass not turf.
I'm going to have to spend again and get something decent.
Don't buy Worx.

I have the Worx one because they were selling them before Christmas with 2 4Ah batteries for about £120, and I wanted the batteries so the mower was effectively free. It’s fine, lasts for plenty of time with the 4Ah batteries, but it’s not a patch on the Ego I already had; I guess you get what you pay for.

EGO if you want something with a good track record.

I bought one last year, after seeing that my neighbour hadn't killed his in the two years he'd had it, despite having gone through various other domestic brands, which typically only lasted a year.

Biggest revelation was being able to fold the handle down, then just stand it in the corner of the shed when not being used.

Really like the look of the Ego mower, unfortunately my corded Bosch Rotak will not die, got to be getting on for 10 years old now. I hate messing around with the cord.

Got a Makita 2x18V, the smallest of the metal-bodied ones - it’s really solid, will happily munch its way through knee-high grass if needed. I have about 300m2 and it will only need recharging after every 3rd go.

Stihl ones seem really nice. Don’t have one. Waiting for my petrol to die. Breathlessly.

I wanted an EGo, but it was lockdown and nothing was available. So bought a einhell from Toolstation. Yeah, far less power than an EGo but it's more than fine for a medium lawn. No complaints.

Which magazine did a review recently.

Ego top.
Cobra, Stilh next level.
That covers the top 20 pretty much.

I have makita stuff including their 2x 18v movers that are rated less that great. Although they are fine for me.

Other brands rated are really poor. According to which.

I bought an Aldi's one a couple of years ago with a spare 40v battery. Was around £150 I think?
First one out of box didn't work but a phone call later and a new one was sent to me and that's been fine.
Adjustable height cut too.
Neighbours paid £500 for the Gtech ones but I'm happy with mine! 3 year warranty as well.

Has anyone used the Ryobi one plus? I have the battery etc and a few other tools, it seems decent kit, a bit pricy but does work.

I've got the worx one as had lots of batteries...

I think it's fab.. Does a large garden neatly with a nice close cut... 🤷

I'd like the 4ah batteries... But 2 X 2ah works fine..
