Looking at getting our lads* (7 and 3) a cheap games console. I’m totally out of touch with them these days. Budget will be about £100 and priorities are great games for kids, ease of use and availability of games. Our broadband speed is pants so not worried about connectivity so much.

Any recommendations?

Cheers!

TS

You could get an Xbox 360 with a whole ton of games for that.

Personally I'd have a Wii U instead but you won't get as much for your money.

Agree. XBox 360 would be good value. FIFA, Minecraft and Lego games seem to be our favourite!

Old Wii with a stack of games - mario kart, wii sports, lego batman etc. 7-year-old might not be as happy, but younger lad gets to play then.

You can pick up an old Wii pretty cheap these days.

For kids that age its got to be a Wii.

You'll get one with a stack of games for that. Ours still gets used all the time. Mariokart tournaments, and bowling can easily see off a rainy afternoon

And this is one of the most joyously subversive games you can ever play...

Another vote for the Wii for kids that age. You'll get a lot for your money too.

take them on the same journey we had.

I'd start of with a c16, then speccy 128k, amiga, shady 386dx2 pc, playstation.

No gaming right of passage is complete without such a journey! 😆

2 floors of an old mill with 100's of games. They have literally every classic arcade game ever made. Nothing swallows a day like this place. A tenner in, and all the games on free-play. And theres a bar! 😀

Either take your kids during the day, or head down on a Friday night with your mates

I have a really good condition Xbox 360 in my garage doing nothing at all.

I would sell it dirt cheap if you decide that’s the right console for you.

Let me know

James

Thanks for the info folks (and offer James). Sounds like the Wii is the wiiay to go (sorry).

If I’m getting a bundle I guess I need to make sure it includes:

Console
Sensor bar
Nunchuck/controller x 2 (what’s the difference)
Rabbits go Home
Other games
Power lead
Connectors

Anything I’m missing?

Thanks again

TS
