Ok, so I'm getting towards the end of the couch to 5K training plan, and want to carry on, there are so many different ones to choose from.

Any advice or suggestions please?

Here's my 10k running programme.

Go out and run for 5k.
Don't stop running until you've done 10k.
HTH

Seriously though, I just started running towards the end of last year to "support" my Mrs. This was after 33 years of doing no more than running for the bus. My 4th/5th run was 11km. I'm an overweight, slightly unfit, 53 year old ex-IT bod, so it's not like I just "adapted" from some other sport.

My step up from my first 5k event went something like...finish race, do nothing for two weeks then a quick couple of outings the week before my 10k just because I thought I ought to.

If you're running 5k comfortably then I'd probably carry on with one or two of those on separate mid week nights then a steadier 10 at the weekend.

You can probably tell I'm no expert though!

Agreed, just do 5k and keep going. Sounds daft but you'll be surprised how far you can go when you're not counting. Just don't get lost.

If you want something with music/podcasts, I think Podrunner is pretty good. They have an intervals series for building up to 10K. http://www.djsteveboy.com/intervals.html
