I bought an Emotion2+ ecu remap device from Celtic tubing last year for my bmw 4 series but have just sold the car and have no wish to remap my new car so want to sell it….. but I’m struggling with the best place to sell - where do people look for things like that?

I’ve tried eBay but the listing was deleted as apparently it goes against their “emissions control policy” (thanks eBay!) and don’t want to have to create accounts/list on loads of different car forums - and I don’t have a facebook account!!

any ideas?!!

Piston Heads is probably your best bet.

 “emissions control policy”

A vehicle tuner in Scotland (iirc) has just been prosecuted for selling non type approved pop and bang remaps.

I'm not going to go with the finger pointing on emissions as I drive an old diesel but I can understand a big business not wanting to handle items that may not be road legal/emissions compliant from a regulatory and ESG perspective.

Send it for re-cycling at the local tip. The pops/bangs/crackles cause a lot of distress to people with ptsd, autism, animals and also are very disturbing to people who live near roads.  The Toyota system is far superior where the engine noise is manufactured and played through the internal speakers - it bothers nobody!

I wonder if BMW have implemented on board detection for devices like that yet?
Many manufacturers have it now.

It's not perfect, but BMW are a lot smarter than the "tuners".

You're not plugging boxes into the harness to make it worse though?

a lot of people on high horses here! Are bmw not guilty of cheating emissions criteria in the first place? I’d have a look for a Facebook group for BMWs/ 4 series

I totally agree that pop and bang maps are one of the most annoying, selfish and ignorant things somebody can possibly do, however not all remaps (in fact probably only a few percent) have 'pops and bangs' added, not least because it requires the cat. conv. to be removed which makes the MOT a PITA.

W'ere some of you ever young ? Some right petrol heads/car junkies on here anyway. TBH it's always happened, people have always modded cars - coming to a 'milkfloat' near you soon.

And before anyone asks, nope, I didn't modify cars and have always had a sensible bike carrying car, no vans/ 4x4's and the like. Went pedal bike racing instead.

And, the re-maps can sometimes produce better fuel economy (so long as it's a Stage 1).

Only because it maps out the emission controls (EGR, additives etc.)

Better plug in some box made by some guy around the back of a Texaco in Cleethorpes then...

Bit of a stretch to assume that the device OP has is designed and being used for this isn't it?

Quite a few of these devices can 'unlock' some of the car features !

Definitely not.  Insurance + emissions + unknown reliability consequences is a big 😞 from me.  I had one modified car for a year or two ... Wish I'd left it "stock" in the end.

I'm firmly in the category of buy a car that's enough as it comes from the factory and save all the hassle and potential retrograde impacts of modifying something that isn't fit for purpose.

Owners clubs, facebook groups probably best. But with some kit that's quite a wide net
