I'm dreading the answer but I'll ask anyway....

The Atlantic pressure chart that used to be the only simple quick way of getting a weather forecast for the country as whole.... where's it gone?

And whilst I'm at it, where's the video forecast these days?

They don't get their weather from the met any more - maybe it was their chart ?

Yeah, as scaredypants says, the Beeb disowned the Met Office and detailed intelligent forecasting. Bleating on about 'THE BEAST FROM THE EAST 3' gets more viewers and web traffic apparently.

So, as scotroutes says, after the referendum it was realised that people actually didn't want or need information, as long as they had a satisfying amount of sensationalism.

Yes! Like to the thread! It's shit isn't it?

Surface pressure chart is available on the Beeb site courtesy of meteogroup. It's not very good, too much Eurasia and not enough Atlantic on the map, most of which is obscured by a dateline progress bar so a play icon can be pressed and I can watch the images not coincide with the relevant day.

Theyve also decided to remove fronts by type. Actually, they're just not bothering with fronts anymore, I'm left trying to work them out and my knowledge isn't as honed as it once was.

Met Office site not bad, but they too have removed fronts from their pressure charts.

Dumbed down in some areas and taken to a level of expertise in others, which is frustrating.

You can get the more traditional met office charts here:

Swell forecast

its what I tend to look at, don't like colours on an isobar chart!

Thanks all for your input. Having used the beeb isobars for 30 years the met office one was somewhat over featured but better than nothing.

Words can't express(even after a few beers) how much loathing and contempt I have for the pitiful woeful cretin at the BBC who made the utterly abysmal decision to make the 'recent' changes to the forecast .

THE PHOTOS OF THE WEATGER SENT IN BY VIEWERS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FORECAST.

WTAF.  I Mean are you serious. I turned on the weather forecast so I could find out what the weather is going to be like in the near future, not what some sad no life cretinous **** has taken a photo of from outside their patio door.

Damn you to hell for eternity.

I'm so glad I don't pay my tv licence, otherwise I'd be really angry.
