You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My old car, BMW 5 Estate, 59 reg with 160,000 miles is starting to go wrong £1100 on air suspension unit a few months ago, and the DPF is starting to play up, it's had a forced re-gen but I suspect it's time to get rid.
I don't need a big car any more, the 3 kids have all left home so there's no need for University trips with tons of stuff, but I'm 6'4" so want reasonable sized car and definitely an estate. A mate who works in the car trade suggested a Merc C Estate, it's what he'd get for himself if he didn't get to tool around in a Jag or Land Rover brand new every couple of months.
Any STW'ers have experiences with them, I'm especially interested in the plug-in hybrids, petrol or diesel (I know, fuel of Satan and all that). They're a wee bit more expensive but not much. I know you need to take the official mpg figures with a fistul of salt but the efficiency appeals. I'm looking at 3-4 year old cars with up to 50K miles.
Apologies for sarcastic thread title, but actually I'd rather have advice from normal* people rather than strange car obsessed people who'd bore on about dynamics, road feel and other stuff that I don't care about.
