Got some upgrades to the camper been done next week which will include the two year old leisure battery and solar panel and its electrics been removed and replaced with twin batteries and a 310 panel. Is there a market for them or are they better of going to the dumpit site

Not interested in ebaying them or posting them.

Someone doing a self build would jump at that kit!

Try Campervan & Accessories 'For Sale' on FB or Outdoor Gear Exchange also on FB.

Please don't just take them to the tip (if that's what you mean) - then environmental cost of doing that is surely enough to make a bit of effort in finding a home for them worthwhile?

assuming this is a subtle advert - where are you based, and how much are you looking for?

Not an advertWanted to look at the market to see if it was worthwhile and couldn't find anywhere to see. Most of the stuff except bike bits goes to the local hospice shop however its not something they would take.

Hadn't even thought about a price

Even if they are not worth anything, giving them away for free to someone who'd use them would be better than dumping them.

Thanks Jon

Storage is going to be a problem as if the are going to be reused I don't want to damage them. Its a big panel

Yes they recycle them but not reuse them, they’ll get mashed up with all the other electricals when they get fed into the industrial frag plant. They’ll take the lead out of the batteries and recycle that and treat the acid inside then frag the plastic.

Reuse by selling or giving them away is a much better option and if you want to get technical it’s further up the waste hierarchy (prevent/minimise/reuse/recycle/energy recovery/dispose)

Can’t you list them on ebay as buyer collection?

means you don’t have the hassle of posting.

to be fair, I wouldn’t want the hassle of posting.

There's a big market for this sort of stuff. Lots of self builders out there. If you were anywhere near Bristol I'd be straight over. Facebook is probably the easiest as you can target local people. Good stuff goes fast on there.

Will look on facebook, allotments sounds a good idea. Don't think the engineer would be interested as he has to get rid of them

Not sure where you are, but my brother in law has just bought a camper and is doing it up. I am sure he would be able to use it.

Another “where are you?” post as a neighbour (and mountain biker if that makes a difference) has just bought a converted van, but needs a leisure battery and way thinking about a solar panel...

Tracey I'm High Peak based and have a Passat Estate - if you can't find someone to take them, and the panel will fit in my car then I'll arrange to come and get them then pass on to someone who can use them.  I wont be asking any money for them, I just hate to think of them going to the recycling place when someone could reuse them.  I've got room in the garage for short term storage and they wont get damaged.

Ooh.

Got a use for the solar panel, to put on the top of the container where we store the towing tractor at the sailing club, and would be able to keep the battery topped up.

Don't need the battery.

Interested.
