I am bored of staying in the Northern Quarter. I will have the car for the next few weeks and will be up here 2-3 nights a week.
Where is worth staying within a 30-40 minutes drive of north Manchester?
Fairly simple needs. Food and beer within walking distance of a bed and wifi for £70 per night or less. I won't have a bike with me.
I don't want some remote B&B on the moors where I will just be stuck in one room and I don't want a bothy or 'community hostel'.
Suggestions please
My shed?
30-40 mins? You mean the ring road 😉
The Village Hotel on the M66 Bury exit is pretty good and has a decent gym and indoor pool; the new rooms round the back are quite nice according to a colleague who stays there.

You want to drive into Manchester?? Crazy fool...
Prestwich probably has enough going on to keep you occupied. If you're heading to the northern quarter then you can get the tram too. I ride in from Prestwich to the northern quarter as fast as cars do it around rush hour, and I sometimes get overtaken by a guy on a Brompton so I'm not exactly fast...
Prestwich?
Church Inn* has rooms and there is a Premier Inn.
I'm sure that the MNPR locals could take you out for a beer.
* Did you stay there at HTN about a million years ago?
If you want to mix it up a bit try some other areas, do you need to get to the city? Plenty of hotels down media city side, quiet but some places to eat and have a beer. Nice place for a stroll on a warm evening like we have coming
i believe I did. Well I remember doing HTN with DrP at some point in the past
