Mrs d1 and I fancy a couple of nights away next week (Sunday to Tuesday) and Bath is the likely location.

Where to stay though?
We want somewhere central but not too expensive. Are we going to have to settle for Premier Inn or can the STW crew recommend somewhere?

https://www.hillhousebath.co.uk/ is lovely and a short walk into town.

Or there are lots of independent places listed here: https://www.stayinbath.org/places-to-stay/

It's a beautiful place, enjoy!

Bath is a relatively small city, and it’s easy to walk from one side to the other in less than an hour, but that’s going to be at a fast pace - I honestly don’t know about accommodation in the city, but because of its status as a World Heritage site, there’s lots of small hotels dotted around the whole city, which you can find online, but it’s worth downloading the app for Organic Maps, it’s based on Open Street Maps, and you can zoom right it to see individual buildings with street numbers. The screen shot below pretty much shows the Bath that you can easily walk to, side to side; top to bottom, not so much!

Enjoy, it’s a lovely city, I live 12 miles away and I’ve cycled down then picked up the K&A Canal and cycled back via Bradford-on-Avon and Semington through Melksham and Lacock, stopping at appropriate venues for sustenance…

We stayed at a place called Harington's Hotel on Queen Street. Well recommend it. Very central and not too expensive. Excellent service.

If you're a fan of GCN on YouTube, Queen Street is often used for the talking in the street filler bits.

The price is highly variable depending on demand, and the rooms are tiny, but the Z Hotel is clean and very central. Last time I stayed it was ~£50 for the night.

Don’t forget Bristol isn’t that far on the train and the stations not far from the docks so you could also visit the ss Great Britain and wander around the docks.

Did a couple of uni open days with LittleMissMC and forgotten what a lovely place it is.

Nothing helpful to add on accommodation but Topping & Company bookshop is a fantastic place to explore.
