I'm being taken to learn how to snowboard next month. It'll be a disaster, but I fancy somewhere warm to stay for when we're done.

Is Grantown a trek of a drive away, I know they have wigwams there which are great to stay in.

Alternatively, is there anywhere cheap (like £30/night cheap, or there abouts) a bit closer to Aviemore for 2 of us to stay in? Normally I'd just camp at Coylumbridge but something tells me if it's cold enough to snow, it's too cold for someone who doesn't like camping (which would be me).

I've found that hostels are an excellent way to ruin a holiday. Hate the bloody things.

I've considered them as a last resort!

there is a bunkhouse (at least one) in Aviemore, and many more in surrounding areas such as Newtonmore etc.

Search for independent hostels on google and download the blue book they produce.

I was going to suggest the Cairngorm Hotel, but I guess you mean £30 a night for a room for 2, not £30 each per night.

£30 each a night would be acceptable if we splash out, the cairngorm isn't the one in the middle of town is it?

Wonderful stuff, I'll see if we can wing a hotel. That'd be really rather plush, which I'm not used to on me holidays!

we stayed in avie bunk house by the post office bar @ the river druie

was a bit rank, TBH the YHA just up the road is a better option, also i think cairngorm mtn sports have a bunkhouse at the back of the shop and you get the bonus of the mountain cafe above 🙂
