As subject line! I don't know if it's a fashion thing and shades will get smaller again soon, but the only sunglasses that have ever fitted my face properly were Oakley - I bought a pair of their Valve model in 2004 and they are perfect. Except now they're sixteen years old and the lenses are delaminating and replacement ones are unobtainable. I bought another similar pair in 2009 and broke them right across the nose, but no, of course the lenses aren't the same.
Someone told me that sunglasses are bigger now because that way they protect more of your face, which seems like a really stupid reason, because bigger glasses irritating my cheeks or eyebrow area just means I'm not going to wear them...
So, any suggestions for somewhere to try, other than looking on ebay for new old stock?
Oakley Fives Squared are a fairly small lens.
Sounds like you need to go to a shop (sunglasses hut, department stores etc.) and actually try ones on to figure out which work for you. Last sunglasses I bought were Oakleys from SportPursuit, had already confirmed they fitted my face via a House of Fraser though...
Yep, tried them, but they're still massive compared with a few years back, sadly.
I've got a few pairs of the Vans Spicoli. They look cool(ish) and they're cheap enough not to be devastated when I sit on them or drop them in the English channel, like for example if you're leaning over the fence on a ferry to see a dolphin.
They feel smaller than the Oakley Holbrooks I've got.

Got some Planet X ones last week and I'm really impressed with them. Dirt cheap too.
Have a look at https://waterhaul.co/
They make the frames from recycled plastic that they've removed from Cornish beaches, which has to be a small step in the right direction
I like the idea, but don't like the glasses, sadly. Much as I dislike Planet X, their Metis EVO look spot on! I'll try them and report back...
Cheapest sunglasses in the world
I went mad and bought two pairs
If you must, Ebay have a wide selction of Oakley Valve's
Look for steampunk?

The other alternative is go to a decent opticians, and get them to put some lenses in. You might need to phone around a few to find one that does it.
I had (have...) some lovely decathlon titanium sunglasses, which had delaminated. Really light, really strong etc
My mate - who is an optician - put in some decent polarizing lenses for £30. Bit cheaper than getting another set of Ti framed glasses.
That's a good shout, actually. We've got a really decent optician here. Will try them.
The other first world problem with bigger shades is that they don't fit in the shades holder in my car...
There's literally thousands of options out there?

Having looked at the Valve glasses, I thought they looked fairly large! Compared to Flak Jackets and a whole bunch of their wire-framed sunglasses they look huge.
Aye, they're massive now. I'm talking about the originals from 2004!
Ray ban aviators.. They are a timeless classic for a reason.
Oakleys are horrendous, they make everyone who wears them look like PC principal from South park.

Which Oakleys? There’s been probably a couple of hundred different styles over the last thirty-odd years! A pair of Frogskins look nothing like a pair of Mumbos, which in turn look nothing like a pair of Flackjackets, which are nothing like E-Wires, etc, etc, etc...
Frogskins are just a riff on Wayfairers, and there’s umpteen other variations of those as well, so your statement doesn’t hold water.

Yeah, about those - they make everyone wearing them look like a Tom Cruise wannabe, or a cheap spiv with possibly unsavoury habits...
