Have a textile motorcycle jacket that wants a new zip on it. It was expensife and although it is quite old, it seems a shame to chuck it away. I have very fond memories of it.

Are Scottish Mountain Gear the people to talk to or would you send it elsewhere?

Lancashire Sports Repairs -  http://lancashiresportsrepairs.co.uk/

They've sorted a few items out for me in the last year or so including a new pocket zip on my Goretex snowboard jacket, a resole of a couple of pairs of Five Tens.

They're brilliant.  A bit old school to deal with, expect paper forms and a bit of silence while they're working on your stuff, but the quality of work was excellent - I really couldn't fault them.

+1 for Lancashire Sports Repairs. Did a good job on a rucksack for me a few years ago, and this thread has reminded me it's the go-to for a new zip on an elderly softshell jacket that needs sorting.

+2.  Was my first thought when seeing the thread title.  Also, they're within kicking distance if there's a problem, I could walk there from work.  It feels like a family-run business of passionate experts.

I had a waterproof zip sorted on a Wingnut by Scottish Mountain Gear after advice on here. They did a smashing job. Must and Henri Lloyd have both repaired kit I've had from them for either a very reasonable fee or completely free of charge, so also consider contacting the manufacturer of your jacket - they might just be able to help.
