Most of the stuff in the local go outdoors and blacks are 4+. Where would I get something for my 2 year old? He comes out walking with me and dog in all weathers. He's outgrown his jacket and I'd like to get him a decent replacement. Thanks.

An acquaintance runs a site called Viking Kids (google it) that sells all weather kit for kids - most of it imported from Scandinavia I think.

Trespass go down to size 2. I've had plenty of stuff for the girls from there. They do cool kids stuff that they actually like wearing. Theres an outlet shop at the Lowry. If you've one within striking distance then its worth calling in so they can try stuff on. Some absolute bargains to be had in there usually too

The downside of that being that you normally emerge with a new head torch, 3 water bottles, a new rucksack and a compass. None of which you went in for in the first place 😀

Trespass, Mountain Warehouse or Decathlon. All pretty decent quality, should last until they grow out of it and maybe get handed on, and cheap enough not to worry if it doesn't (Decathlon & Mountain Warehouse, Trespass can be a bit more pricey)

Spotty Otter kit is very good, if a little expensive. We have/had waterproof jackets and trousers, all excellent for dog walking duties along with exploring in the woods when it's chucking it down, and the down jackets that convert into a gilet, good all year round.

It's probably a good time to try to pick some up on ebay as the weather appears to be improving a bit. It lasts really well so don't worry about wear on second hand - we bought a pair of waterproof trousers that looked well worn but both ours have been through them and there's life in them yet.

Sizes start from 6 months IIRC.

Edit: Example (wrong size I know)

Definitely look on ebay for more expensive brands, also for walking boots - kids grow out of them before they wear out

trespass is great but a bit pricey, we tend to spend the money there for winter wear, for summer we go with Mountain Warehouse as warmth factor is less important

For outerwear we've had Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, Spotty Otter, Jack Wolfskin and Diedriksons (sp). Mostly from shops in Ambleside. There's a cracking one specialising in kids gear. But also Cotswold is good too. We tend to use Regatta fleeces. For boots we have gone for Wolfskin, always from Cunninghams in Betws or Ambleside.
