I'm looking for a linen suit, for a wedding but also conferences in hotter places.
Are there any off-the-shelf brands recommended here?
Del Monte always looked good to me
You enjoy ironing?
I got mine from marks and sparks but it was many years ago. Its good but I have no idea if they still are
Slaters? They seems to have a wide range of suits.
John Lewis here. Wore it a couple of times but felt like a tramp. 42" Chest, 30" waist and 32" leg. Nice Blue/ Grey colour.(stealth ad). Sometimes wear the jacket with jeans, that feels OK. But yeah, ironing.
I had one once.
Looked great on day one
And a bag of spuds every day after that

You must wear a panama hat with it - its the law.
Don't let the nay sayers put you off. Very stylish and cool. Wear with a black tee shirt for added cool points
Make sure you are fully prepared for not only the wrinkles, but the complete change of shape when you wear it for 5 minutes. Fully tailored suit will fit like a comfy sweatshirt and joggers instantly.
Embrace the vibe and go with sandals and no shirt 😀
I have a Duffer of St George one I found in tk maxx, it's awesome.
Bet there are some nice ones on eBay or vinted
Try here.
Picked up a linen suit for a wedding in a couple of weeks.
Probably never wear it again.
Linen and cotton mix cuts out a lot of the creasing problems etc.

+1 or a Martin Bell
Moss Bros
I got this from Vinted for a fancy dress. There were some good ones on there, this was just cheap and sort of fitten. It was by Yves Saint Lauren I think

full disclosure, i post the following in jest.
Very stylish and cool.
was wondering if you meant cool as in comfortable in a hot climate.
then read:

miami vice! did you go as crocket or tubbs?
(sorry. i’ve been wanting to use that line since someone used it on me.)
this afternoon’s drinking has made me nasty.
Duffer of St George
1998 called. It wants its suit back.
Get one made when overseas (at the conferences)?
I had mine made while on a weeks work in Bangkok, also got a silk suit too.
Measured the day I arrived (I passed the shop as it was next door to our offices), first fit the next day and all ready by the next.
I'd recommend a silk suit over a linen if it's for more formal situations.
Disclosure; I don't have one, but I've got one of their shirts which is a very decent quality heavy linen that doesn't crease half as bad as some.

I got a Miami Vice style version from Lidl a while ago.
Was a good £50 odd with shirt too which are time thought was a fair wack though admittedly looks trick with a matching salmon pink golf jumper.
I like linen and have, back in the early 90s when clothes were baggy, owned a linen suit. You're not going to get pictures. Anyway, re the wrinkly thing: the whole point of linen is to be wrinkly. That's the look:

(I'm not entirely sure what's going on in this picture? Typical short arms deep pockets yorkshireman requires assisstance locating wallet? Ambulatory prostate check? But the suit's working anyway.)
But the suit’s working anyway.)
🤣 I think we can all agree: if you want to look like the guy in the photo, buy a linen suit!
the guy in the photo
really?
Given Hockney's talent I doubt he cared about anyone's opinion of his sartorial choices.
Isn't boho slob part of the great artist aesthetic?
Cotton mix seems the be the common online.

Percival seem well recommended. Thanks for the (entertaining) responses.

Apologies for not recognising a 35+ year old pap shot of a painter (not model)...
....where he looks like shit.
@johnx2 Anyway, re the wrinkly thing: the whole point of linen is to be wrinkly.
Erzackly, a linen suit is an anachronism and to iron it is to spit on its very raison d'etre.
Any way in answer to the OP , Next or M'n'S. Good ones have a lining to the knee for modesty in the trouser department.
Hockney before he turned to Crocs? https://amp.theguardian.com/fashion/2022/nov/26/david-hockney-yellow-crocs-impress-king-charles
Suits? Oh dear.
