Can't seem to find what we had outside our old place.
I'm after a couple of lantern/half lights for our path and front door.
I only want the light to come on once its dark and it senses movement.
Could possible be interested in non lantern ideas.
Homebase list one, but their reviews state its not as advertised.
Or any all in one PIR/dusk till dawn sensor that i could rig to existing lights?
Cheers.
Try Toolstation.com
Thatll be a normal pir activate light then ......
The nearest thing Toolstation have is
but at night it has a constant low level light. I'd rather have no light until it triggers.
They also have
with "adjustable lux" but its not clear if they mean light output or light received is adjustable?

But i want the light switch inside the house always on but the light to only switch on when it is dark and it detects movement.

That is a normal PIR light...
We got one from b and q

I could be wrong... but, i thought a PIR switches on with movement, regardless of time of day. A photocell measures the lux and activates when dark. Therefore don't i need a light with a photocell and a PIR? Our previous light had setting for both.
Or iz i just fik? 😉
I'm pretty sure my last PIR didn't come in the day (as you'd never see it). NB I bypassed it years ago as it was a pain, so I can't go and test it.

So you want it to come on when its dark? You also want it to come on when it senses movement?
If its on when dark it wont come on again when there is movement or am I missing what you're looking for?
A normal PIR can be adjusted to start working at dusk and stop working in daylight.
There's a little sensitivity screw underneath bulb housing IIRC.
He wants it to start sensing movement only when it's dusk/dark and not during daylight hours.
Therefore, if it's dark and it senses movement, the light comes on. If it's light and it senses movement, it doesn't come on. Typical security light if I understand correctly.

+1
The one in our back garden has an indoor switch and is on a low setting when switched on (regardless of ambient light) and switched to a higher setting when there is movement. It's a light and not a spotlight though.
The one at the front is a normal PIR spotlight. It's always switched on on the house but only lights up after dark and in the event of movement. We got it in B&Q.

I read it he wants both
The PIR should have two adjusters. One for LUX level and one for 'On' time. Most can be over ridden by normal switching.
I've never had one that had both a PIR and photocell.
And remember PIR's don't like energy savers.
This one:

I've just put 2 up. They have two 'controls', how dark it is before coming on and how long to stay on. I got the 120w and they work fine with the switch on all the time.
All i know is i have 2 at my front door that come on when its dark and there is movement
No adjusters at al and no switch
I have a halogen security light in the back garden working the same an one on the front d my garage working the same
Great things , all are pir security lights
None come on during day
we got ours from B&Q
it's switched on via a switch in the garage. I leave it switched on all the time. it only lights up when it goes dark and someone moves
It's a regular PIR activated light. nthing special
something like this
http://www.screwfix.com/p/floodlight-400w-black-pir-photocell-8550lm/22266
wire it up as though it's a normal light
Somehow this has been made to sound faaaar more complicated than it actually is 🙂
Screwfix photocell PIR light for about a tenner.
Wire it up and leave it turned on all the time.
Job done.

I have this gift.
Thanks all & nite.
Design excluded you are after a common r garden security light.
I bet you would struggle to fins anything that doesn't do as you want.
