Where to eat- hebden

So we’ve got a night in hebden bridge this Saturday- bonfire night. Going to the trades club to see a band and staying over. 6 of us all paid up members of the tofu eating wokerati so I think we will fit in. One veggie the rest omnivores. 2 of our group from Ludlow, and she runs the farmers market there so to call them foodies is an understatement. Where should we go to eat, given there is no greggs in town…?

haven't lived there for a while but I'd recommend:

Marco's- for pizza and insults

Rim Nam Thai - by the lock is always pretty good, but lacks atmosphere (if that's a thing you want)

Olive Branch  - for Turkish and huge portions

Old Gate -  for better than average Pub food (nice restaurant upstairs) convenient in the middle of town

Stubbing Wharf - for the same (slightly less good food, but better value)  but just on the edge of town

Vocation -  for pretty good tapas and a really good selection of beers.

The Hinchcliffe Arms in Mytholmroyd - maybe not the best for veggie, but award winning (i think) pub food.

Cheers for those ideas everyone. I think coin looks perfect for our foodie friends. We’d already thought about a visit to the vocation tap room too!
May try Marcos to see if the insults are up to snuff…

Tish from the 'Local to Ludlow' market?  My wife is a regular stallholder.  Can't help with Hebden, but have a great night wherever you end up.

If they're foodies from Ludlow they may be disappointed in hebden fare.....!
As above, Marcos for pizza but people's pizzeria shades it, if it's cold outside you can eat in a couple of the neighbouring bars if you buy drink. Nelson's is quite good, vegan, can't comment on coin but I've delivered some good quality cheese and bread there, and it has a good rep. Oldgate or white lion are a bit better than ok pub food, stubbing wharf is under new management and the food has a poor rep, it has sports screens and beer is apparently north of £5 a pint 😲
Vocation has good beer, good tapas on a good night, but can be very busy.
If you can make it up valley to tod, yakumama is good, tapas or mains.
Enjoy TBC!

Pizza - must be Oreganos

Pink Pepper in Mytholmroyd doing good takeaway curries, assume sitting in will also be good

BTW, as a Ludlow resident I'm sad to say it is no longer the foodie mecca it once was, and tbh hasn't been for some time.  Living off past glories. I doubt they will be disappointed by some of places being described above.

Vocation is excellent beer but the Tapas has gone and its burgers now. Marco's very good pizza cafe. Nelsons decent vegetarian. Lots of decent stuff but not much outstanding fare. Lots of good drinking mind

Here are a couple of suggestions, that we visit:

Nelsons wine bar is good and fully Vegan,
Blue teapot in Mytholmroyd ( Daytime cafe ) is veggie and also good
Mooch is also a cafe but open until quite late, tofu ciabatta again good
Finally Rim Nam if you want a Thai

Enjoy Paul.

There is another Mediterranean restaurant, Aya Sophia, on bridge gate. Went a couple of weeks ago and the service was so fast, and the food delivered to our table so quickly, that it felt rushed. Food was ok but for Mediterranean I’d probably go to olive branch. However, last time there the place was deserted and you really felt like the staff wanted you gone so they could go home. Not been, but family go to oldgate and seems ok. Italian is catered at Il Mulino in the square, above innovation cafe. Used to be a regular haunt for our family but we haven’t been since it changed hands.

@docrobster I'll be there at Bug Club! Not sure I count as a big hitter but be sure to say hi if you spot me! I didn't know Coin existed. Usually end up with Vocation's fake vegan duck loaded fries if I'm in Hebden.

If you're a bit of a foodie and live in/near Calderdale, The Moorcock on Norland Moor is excellent. (The Coin chef used to work their)

Sadly they are not renewing the lease so it will be closing in January. It's certainly worth trying before they close.

@stwhannah sure will!
And why did no one mention vegan duck fries? They are the mutts nuts! Might have to have two dinners!

Another Moorcock fan here, so sad it's closing. In a league of it's own (for Calderdale anyway)

Good start. My friends arrived a bit early so they could go to leila’s kitchen for lunch. TBC were in there eating.
It’s even stopped raining. I’ve been to blazing saddles to buy a new rear light and a chain. Rendezvous at Vocation tap room in 15 mins…

Currently in the Trades looking at the crowd and wondering who looks like a vegan mountain biker…

Also regretting my thermal dungarees.

Very excited to see the band is selling tea towels.
