As above, where is good to hang out after a day in the hills?

Quick Google and I am liking the look of the old bridge inn for food and beer?

Anywhere else good like that?

We are staying in Coylumbridge so planning on getting a taxi over there a couple of times.

We love the pine martin at Glenmore, also the winking owl in town. We haven't eaten in the bridge inn as it was fully booked when we tried, seems nice though.

You can't book at the pine martin & it can get busy with lots of outdoor type people, you're fine there in mucky kit for post-ride beer on the way back down to Coylumbridge.

I'd suggest trying to book somewhere for food, especially on Friday/Saturday night.

OBI is good. A bit pricy, slow turnover of menus and usually busy. Booking would be mandatory.

Most locals now favour the Balavoulin - slighly further north up the main road. Booking would be advisable though not always necessary.

Charcoal is newly opened, in the station buildings. I've only been once and enjoyed it. Strange mix of cuisines but that's handy if you've a mixed bunch. No idea how busy it is at the moment.

It's owned by the same folk as the Indian (by the Happy Haggis chippy). I don't frequent Indian restaurants much preferring to do my own, but a few friends like it.

Cairngorm Hotel does decent food and has a good bar. No booking, so first come, first served.

La Taverna does standard pizza/pasta etc but also operates a buffet system. You can really fill up on a lot of carbs for not much money if that's your thing. Tends to be busy with families.

There's a Chinese too - again buffet is an option - never been.

Avoid the Skiing Doo. It's gone massively downhill in the past 10 years or so.

PS - I assume the thread title was supposed to be Eat and Drink?

Cheese and Tomatin (above the outdoors shop) does great wood fired pizzas (much better than the other Italian I reckon). Booking is good idea.

And the Indian (can't recall the name) is very good too.

If it's lunch (or just cake) the cafe in the Aviemore branch of Tiso is very good, far better than most in-shop cafes.

If it's the big Coylumbridge hotel on the way to loch morloch from town I hope it's improved since I was there. I should see if I can dig out my comedy toast photo and post it.

Rooms were fine but the organisation of the place was an utter shambles.

If it's cake then Kincraig Art Cafe is the best option (albeit not in Aviemore 🙂  )

Lots of nice wee gravely loop options from Coylumbridge down the Speyside way to Kincraig over Feshiebridge & back through Rothiemurchus passed Loch An Eilein too 🙂

We're big fans of OBI, building a dam in the sand by the riverside with my 5 year old while supping a nice pint of something craft.

Cheese and Tomatin is a great shout for food. Definitely book though.

I don’t think Cheese & Tomatin takes bookings. The pizzas are ace in there. Another option is get some beers at the Old Bridge Inn and sit outside near the river. Send someone to Smithy’s for fish and chips or a take away pizza from Cheese & Tomatin and eat while supping beers by the river. Needs to be sunny though,

I’d also recommend the Pine Marten if you want to get ‘eaten’ as the midges there can be pretty grim 🤣

Been a while since i was last up there but the Dalrachney Lodge in Carrbridge was always a favourite for a meal

https://www.dalrachney.co.uk/en-GB

Potting Shed Tea Rooms were worth a trip on their own but have sadly closed down - I understand though that they still sell their cakes via the Art Cafe at Kincraig Post Office (as mentioned above)

Sadly the Potting Shed lady has now fully retired and no longer bakes for the Kincraig café. They still have good cake though.

Other excellent cakeage is available at the Old Croft Bakery in Carrbridge.

Dalrachney Lodge is also no longer. TBF they'd been posting it for a couple of years, relying on reputation. Covid saw the business close for good.

Disaster!

Her cakes were truly exquisite! I think she was Danish wasn't she?

Many happy afternoons at Inshriach watching the birds & squirrels on the feeders whilst quaffing quality cakes.

Yeah @daviek I get the impression the service will be a bit faulty towers. Have tried calling the frint desk a few time and no answer. Website reads like it has been written by chatGPT.

I used to like the Lochain Bar at Glenmore Lodge, but it looks like it's no longer open to non residents, which is a shame.

So we went to Skiing doo. Was actually alright. Pasta was cheap and cheerful. Despite looking sh1t. They kept turning folk away despite the restaurant being half full.

Balavolin was ok beer was sh1te.

Went to the best chippy in the world on the 3rd night. Did the job. Not sure if that was its name but that's what it had plastered all over it.

Thought the best beer was at the old bridge. Food looked ace too but they could not squeeze us in:(

Bridge Inn used to be good for food, but I've found it a bit meh on recent visits.

Smiffy's on the main street (just across from Tesco) is a superior chippie.

Anderson's in Boat of Garten was totally decent for a more formal sit-down meal.

What's the issue with that toast? You clearly asked for a mix of brown and white
