You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Must be laods sitting doing nothing waiting to be re-used. Apart from ebay - where should we look?
Facebook marketplace, Facebook local buy and sell groups, Gumtree
we got ours on eBay but have bought loads of stuff off of Facebook too
We got ours on Facebook, and then moved it on back on Facebook. Think we lost £70, compared to the lass we bought it off losing about £500!
Facebook group worked for us
NCT groups do 2nd hand sales too.
I’m finding Facebook marketplace a lot better for buying and selling these days than gumtree. Seems to be a lot less people trying to arse one another around there - possibly because it’s a little less anonymous and generally a bit more local.
I’d happily buy a pram secondhand but if by travel system you mean the car seat as well I’d be a bit more cautious.
The car seat impact protection is only good for one crash-much like a bike helmet. You may be fine and / or be happy to chance it. I’d just buy new.
(About to sell an UppaBaby Vista. Complete, with carry got, covers, and a MaxiCosi Pearl seat with bad and adapters. N Hampshire... *stealth ad as I haven't got around to photos and advertising it yet!*)
Details please?
dannybgoode makes a good point about the car seat. It’s polystyrene and plastic, very helmet-esque so i’d agree with looking to get that part new
About to sell a Britax set (car seat, isofix mount, buggy base, carry cot, and buggy seat). Based near Northampton, and travel up and down the M1 to Rotherham.
Just use eBay. We sold our Mamas & Papas pram/car seat/isofix base/etc system for the grand total of £10. It was £500 new.
Never using a second hand car seat
When do you need it? We will be selling on our uppababy system in the next couple of months which we have the rumble seat for so can be set up for 2 if you need it.
Not sure why everyone is so hyper concerned about baby carseats. Who the hell would sell a carseat that has been in an accident?
Due Oct 6th
Regards the car seat, people will sell all sorts of stuff. Maybe it's been donated to them and they don't know it's been in an accident, maybe people don't know they need replacing after one.
We had a minor shunt (Sainsbury's car park, car that hit is probably doing 10mph) and when we checked with the manufacturer they said to replace it. Obviously they would say that bit that then left us with a pretty much brand new seat we had to dispose of. I took it to the tip but cut the straps first as I didn't want it being sold on by someone who found it there
But on another note, I can recommend the Vista flashy is selling. they are bigger than a lot of others which can seem a pain but we make good use of the bigger basket underneath
Since its going that way we have an icandy with travel cot, pram and Maxi Cosi adapters. Ready to go whenever. Southampton based. No car seat with it but will fit a maxi Cosi one with those adaptors.
Of course you can buy a second hand car seat particularly if you know or can trust the seller. The vast majority out there will have never even been anywhere near an emergency stop. If you ever bought a second hand car you'll know you're undertaking risks associated with unknown provenance. At least with a car seat you can take a good look at it. Naturally to eliminate all risk buy new, but don't let the fear mongers or the manufacturers scare you out of using your common sense and intuition. Ever checked a car seat in as hold luggage for a plane flight?
